Figured I'd make a 'normal' update while i'm waiting for my Gallifrey pictures to finish uploading to my flickr. This is gonna be long...
The convention was awesome, once my sister and I finally made it to LA, that is. I'll tell you the whole story for that. We arrived at the airport 1 1/2 hours before our plane was supposed to leave for Newark, and then there was supposed to be a 2 hour layover before our flight to LA. Well, the flight to Newark got delayed quite a few hours and wouldn't be leaving until 5pm, making it impossible for us to catch the connecting filght even though that was also leaving later than scheduled. The lady basically told us there was no way we'd get to LA for two days because all flights were booked solid. I wasn't having any of that though. So she suggested that we go ask other airlines to see if there were any flights on them that we could get. We managed to find something on United, but after going through security and waiting by the gate to see if we could get on it, we were told they had to bump us off the waiting list because there was a crew that needed to get on the flight and they were going to ask people already booked to give up their seats. So, we were back to square one. Went back to the Continental desk to see if there was any way for us to actually make it to LA. The lady that told us 'no way' in the first place managed to find us something. We had to take a flight to Boston, then to Chicago and then wait in the airport overnight until 7am for a flight to LA. So we didn't make it to the hotel until about 10:30 am. Not bad considering we weren't sure if we'd actually make it.
At the convention I met quite a few other costumers that I talked to online. (Don't have any costuming pics though, sorry!) On the Friday at the toga party, Kai and Gareth did a skit with some people. Gareth needed a stopwatch prop to use during it, so I handed him mine. To which he made a comment of just having to look for a Ianto when in need of a stopwatch. The skit was quite amusing, but we weren't allowed to take pictures or video of it (just like when they did something similar at the hub).
Not too much went on Saturday. Though, when my sister and I were going back to the convention level of the hotel the doors of the elevator opened and Gareth was standing right outside of it waiting to get on. And I was dressed in my season 3 Ianto outfit...I was too shocked to say anything, but he did make some comment about going up and down, though my brians a bit fuzzy about what actually happened after that point, lol!
Sunday we got photos taken with Gareth and Kai. I had to get mine done twice because the guy didn't know how to work my camera well...and I still ended up with a blurry picture. And after the Gareth and Kai panel while my sister and I were walking around the lobby we ran into Kai and said hi.
Coming home we had another bit of a problem with plane flights. We missed the cut off to check in our bags for our flight by 15 mins, so we had to find another flight home which didn't get in until 4 hours after our original one, but at least we got home that night. That's all I was concered about because I had to work yesterday morning. So, all in all, it was a great trip. Met quite a lot of lovely people, a few of which I will see again next month when I go to England for The Hub 2. Can't wait! :)
