Last week, I got hammered. I worked about 10 hours extra. Which doesn’t sound like a lot, but actually is when things aren’t planned for it. By adding extra hours onto a few days, what was once a half-load becomes a full-load. Or close to it. It’s like the difference between 7 and 8 hours of work; it’s less work but the hour amount is close enough that what you can do after it isn’t much more. So, that coupled with the inability to sleep right, and thus eat right, and I’m a tired mess.
But, I’m not sick. And nothing is dying around me (besides my phone, which is now stuck in speakerphone loud). Thus I’m far better off than Izumi or Christina. Or their immediate roommates. No, compared to their issues, I’m fine. Just tired and unmotivated.
I’ve been unmotivated. Since Friday, actually. Class sucked, it left me on a sour note, and then I worked until 10pm. I’ve not gotten back into things since. Hell, even reading hasn’t really been enjoyable. I’ve been mostly amusing myself in an ADD bouncing around between various Let’s Play threads. Some of which are making me want to play games again; like SimCity 4, Dragon Force, and shit.
Amusingly, in a long discussion about highway interchanges and roundabouts,
this interesting video got linked. The video itself is a WTF moment, but the thing that gets me the most in that it’s in Clovis. I mean, I know the town has people, and internet, and shit, but every time I see somebody from there posting stuff online, I have a little “huh?!” moment inside. (Yes, a great deal of the comments are “Clovis sucks, you’re all a bunch of sheep fuckers!” so don’t bother with them.)
Speaking of SimCity, various lines lead me to something called
Cities XL.
It seems to be what SimCity 5 should be, if Maxis hadn’t become EA’s whipping boy and stopped making such games; SimCity Societies is a rather different game, targeted at who the fuck knows since old SimCity players like me aren’t impressed by the fact they ripped out almost all of the management that would make the game a SimCity. But, back to Cities XL. Basically, it looks like they took the ideas from SimCity 4, thought “Wouldn’t it be cool to make the layouts more organic, like in the real world? And really, really big maps?” Honestly, that’s what I thought would make a good addition to SimCity (that, and fucking better people AI; they can be fucking morons sometimes about transportation). It’s now going into beta, to which I signed up to hopefully get picked (probably won’t). I do await this game, because my inner micromanaging, OCD nerd is having a ragging stiffy over the idea of a better SimCity 4.
Too bad the PS2 “remake” of Dragon Force didn’t come here; but, then again, the actual remakes of Phantasy Star 1 and 2 didn’t either. Fuck you Sega and your illegitimate stepchild US department. (You have many other transgressions, but that’s all I’ll call you out for today.)
