Adobe .... how much I lothe you
Well, Adobe's new CS3 package has yet another new installer mechanism. And it's not a good one. In fact, it's a rather well known broken as all fucking hell one. Basically, the long and short of it is that given the right alignment of the moon and stars, your fresh CS3 install will just plain not work. There's a fix for this problem, though, straight from Adobe. At school, we ran into this issue on multiple machines. And on other machines, things went fine. Overall, it's just plain annoying to wait for an hour long install to find that it doesn't work, and that the uninstall takes just as long.
An unrelated note, suddenly Pai stopped seeing my DVD drives. All of them. Including the virtual ones. This was an error that even System Restore could remedy. So I've had to reinstall Windows yet again. I'm about halfway through putting back all my programs right now. At least CS3 installs just dandy when there's nothing else labeled "Adobe" or "Macromedia" on the system ...
