food for thought if you're hungry

Written by me:

No man nobler or more brave;
A champion among the Greeks: Achilles
We are the superpower of the world
Warnings that highjackings will take place are not heeded
Thetis tell her son "very brief is your lot"
And each knew he would die before Troy was taken
Prophecies materialize into realities
As Apollo guides the arrow into the World Trade Centers

Achilles' face contorts in anguish
At the realization and bittersweet taste of mortality
Rushing to converge on death
An army of security guards and fire trucks
Swarm around the scene as blood congeals to a wound
And Achilles falls
The orgasmic thought of mortality

Apparently Thetis neglected to dip our hubris
And arrogance into the River Styx
We respond to attacks with attacks
There are no covenants between sheep and wolves
We flew too high with the false sense of security
Placed in wings of wax
And we fall back to earth after our wall of immortality
And wax wings are melted as with Icarus

We use freedom towers as earplugs and respond "pardon?"
To the world's questions and warnings
The towers outgrow their predecessors
But no matter how much armor we wear
Our heel will be exposed;
It cannot bend wrapped in steel.

Our naked body lies under a bathrobe
And our head hides behind a shield
If we hide behind the title: superpower
As Patoroclus hide under Achilles' armor
We will fall and turn to ashes.
A prostitute covered in a green dress
Just for show that stays on her only a few minutes
Must be hung in the closet next to unwrinkled and disfunctional armor.

We will fall asleep with patches on our eyes
To block out the sunlight and consequences
Of our actions that will appear
Tomorrow morning.
