Nothing says sensual like Sade. Beautiful, smooth sound.

I happen to love Regina Spektor very very much (especially Samson) and this song is just so poignant.

John Mayer.. ok, I could try to rationalize this choice, but really.. it's because he's BEAUTIFUL.

The Format - Dog Problems
ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SONGS. Very catchy, all over the place.. The Format is a GREAT band, you really should check them out. (CD is called Dog Problems.)
Best Friend Scene:
Johnny Cash & Fiona Apple - Bridge Over Troubled Water
This is a classic song to begin with, and it's really fresh with both the old sound of Johnny Cash and the new sound of Fiona Apple. One of my favourite covers.
Fight With Friend Scene:
The Cardigans - I Need Some Fine Wine And You, You Need To Be Nicer
HILARIOUS SONG. Works for friends or boyfriends.
Make-Up With Friend Scene:
Al Green - Lean On Me
I love old music. You're all luckier for it.

Modest Mouse - Missed The Boat
Modest Mouse is one of my favourite bands right now, and their CD We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank is the best CD to drive to ever created, in my completely unbiased opinion. (Also, if you want to hear pining, take a listen to Little Motel. One of my favourite songs. Makes me ache. But in a good way. Oh, also, not from the same CD, but Float On and The World At Large are both fantastic, too.)

Kasabian's whole vibe is just so amazing. Try not bouncing along to it. It's impossible!
Life's Okay Scene:
RENT Cast - I'll Cover You
A happy song from a powerful movie. (Kudos to Alanna for showing it to me in the first place!) This couple is adorable, too. Breaks my heart. (Listen to the Reprise at Angel's funeral. Heartbreaking.)
Heartbreak Scene:
The Weakerthans - Left and Leaving
The Weakerthans are basically fantastic, and narrowing it down so my entire playlist wasn't just their songs was difficult. Plus, Canadian. Bonus.
Sombre Scene:
Tommy Makem & The Clancy Brothers - The Parting Glass
I had to include this song. It's a beautiful, Irish song. And while it does certainly have a sense of finality, there is still hope.
Mental Breakdown Scene:
Emiliana Torrini - Heartstopper
Emiliana Torrini has one of the most unique voices I've heard. I first saw this video on MusiquePlus, and she also did a cover of The Sound of Silence that's beautiful, if not a bit more haunting than the original.
Driving Scene:
Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros - Mondo Bongo
This song has a sexy, latin feel to it. It was featured in Mr & Mrs Smith, when they dance at the beginning and fight at the end. A beautiful, sensual song.
Deep Thought Scene:
Sufjan Stevens - Casimir Pulanski Day
I imagine this song won't make you feel the way it makes me feel (as it reminds me of Andy) but it is a beautiful song. Listen to it, and let me know how you feel afterwards.
Revenge Plotting Scene:
Our Lady Peace - Wipe That Smile Off Your Face
OLP is classic. 'Nuff said.
Against The Clock Scene:
Tokyo Police Club - Cheer It On!
This is one of Matt's favourite songs right now, and it's really growing on me. It's absolutely infectious.

This song makes me ache.

Semisonic - Closing Time
I love the 90's! And ok, it's not exactly your stereotypical "victory" song, but it's so upbeat you can't help feeling like jumping around.

Iron & Wine - Evening On The Ground
I adore this song, and made Liz love it too. It's all about the lyrics, there's something satisfying in Iron & Wine using the word 'fuck'.
Party Scene:
K7 - Come Baby Come
I dare you not to dance.
Regret Scene:
Death Cab For Cutie - Styrofoam Plates
This is a song about a negligent father, but even if the subject matter doesn't reach you, the sound will. Plus, it's Death Cab. How could it be bad?

The Weakerthans - Hospital Vespers
I love the Weakerthans and their ability to say a thousand things in a few lines. Also, some of you may recognize this song from when Ms. Anjuli Baldwin gave us her version at this year's Coffee House. =)
