Not impressed.

So, I am not exactly impressed with my mother's newest boyfriend. I am saying this somewhat reluctantly, because I think, in general, he treats her well...his personality is just a bit grating. He's nice enough to me and my sisters-- he just doesn't understand he's pretty much invaded our personal space without even a transition period. He seems to be the stereotypical 50-ish white guy that grew up around ths area. Meaning, he's racist and a homophobe. Neither of which have really presented themselves that much so far (only caught wind of the homophobic part when they were watching American Idol together XD). And, from my point of view, they don't necessarily have complimentary characteristics. Compared to past boyfriends, though, he's a lot more stable...emotionally, at least.

I've matured a bit since my mom's last set of more serious boyfriends. I don't act ZOMG so pissed at her for having a personal life, or slam doors/act bratty, and I try to control any eye-rolling when he's around, but the problem now is-- he's around too damned much. They've only been "serious" for maybe a month and a half, and he spends multiple nights/days a week here. Right now he is having surgery so my mom is going to take care of him, and I get the feeling this means he'll be staying here for a week or two pretty consistently. It bothers me that my mom pretty much didn't consult either Amanda or myself before he essentially "moved in" here. Also, it seems pretty apparent it's more his idea to be here so much, since he still lives with his mom, and he likes to be away from her. Yes, you heard that right. That whole financial situation or whatnot has its own implications, but I don't get the impression it's a problem right now.

Honestly, I do like my mom happy, but I am surprised she jumped into this so suddenly. I think it went from a friendship to him living here extremely fast, and it's not a good thing. Problem is, I don't really feel it's my place to confront her about this, at least right now, this is her house and she can choose to be with whomever she likes. Really, she just doesn't really seem to have much of a backbone, and she wont say anything to him unless problems get severe. He lives maybe 35 minutes away and his mother gets on his nerves, sure, but how does that make it a good idea to essentially live part-time with your new girlfriends family, who are VERY accustomed to living in an all-girl environment. He's even here when she is not, and will stay over then. Bleh, it's just an uncomfortable situation.

I'm not planning on saying anything to her right now, right after he's had surgery on his hand.... I have a feeling Amanda might though. I just feel very much like we're all adults here and maybe I should just suck it up (if she's happy), but this is still where I live, and my mother, who I do care about.
Fun.

Other than that nagging factor, everything is going well. I got a job essentially being the computer lab moniter at HACC ($7.55/hr for only about 20 hours per week.) All the legal problems and issues with Domino's seem to be going OK, they have pressed charges against at least one of the guys who robbed me, they just need more evidence (a lot...) to implicate the other two guys. Lets hope their fingerprints show up on that Domino's car top sign. I severely doubt they were wearing gloves. I think I will be having my trial at the end of March for the other issue.

I need to go send some pics (of the dogs) to Holly while I remember to.
