Today was...boring to say the least. I forgot the supplies I needed to work on my book at my home-home, so I wound up just sitting around the apartment downloading tons of music and watching...*gasp*...music television.
I am now at school. I, had just finished a complete half credit in less than and hour and ten, had nothing to do. So I walked my globby way over to the other half to converse with Brian. All the sudden out of no-where I hear..."yah, he's some dumb nigger who got ran out of town and moved to Detroit." This kind of bothered me so I replied with, "Some dumb what?" And this fine specimen of the caucasion race replied..."Niiiigggeeerr." Again I asked him what he had said. And he said, yet again, "nigger." I repeated this solemn little dance until he shouted, "NIGER! God are you fucking stupid you fucking dumbass!" To this I replied, "I'm the stupid one and you're the one using the language of a plantation owner? Why don't you move south?" And this verbal Einstein shouted "YOU FUCKING MOVE SOUTH!! YOU BETTER SHUT THE FUCK UP BEFORE I FUCKIN BLAZE IN YOUR FACE!!" It went on a bit from there, but cheesus crust, how do people turn out like that?
Under other circumstances, had he been joking and not using it as a derogatory term I would have shrugged it off, but in the face of such assenine biggotry, I have to step up. I'm so freakin sick of listening to the same idle minded banter over and over, day in day out, everywhere I go. People need to be re-educated and taught that this kind of unbridled hatred and discrimination is not right. People need to be taught that in order to survive the coming challenges, we need to accept that everyone is different, and in those differences, equal.
I dream of a world where there is no black or white or yellow or red, only shades of grey. I dream of a world where the only rainbows that matter are those which follow a life giving rain, and that which is created within the wonderful spectrum of chosen and genetic variation. I dream of a world where no one has to be afraid unless they want to, a world where anyone can walk on any street at any time. In short, I dream of a great multiscopic duality. I dream of life.
