The things in her nightmares are always dark, and horned. They walk like men, two-legged: shaped of metal rather than muscle, wearing sharply-pronged masks where fleshed faces should be.
Rydia wakes shuddering, for years, at the relentless sounds their metallic steps make; to her, it sounds like chains. The Feymarch, breathing organic, is the only thing that calms her; her flesh-and-bone eidolons are nothing like the distant, empty-armored fiends of her dreams.
The odd relief she feels to find Cecil a Paladin is explained when she is again faced with Kain, and her ears fill with chains and dark armor.
