It is written clearly across her face now: her desire to do something by herself, to prove she was good enough, to do the saving rather than to be the saved. Rosa is a White Wizard in much more than name: she has always wanted to be the protector, not the protected.

And this is why I love Rosa oh so much and wish there was more about her out there. Really, my heart goes out for that type of person. And I adore Cecil/Rosa, as it strikes me as a very tangible relationship, much moreso than a lot of others in FF games (it's second only to Cid/Edea in my mind, if that says ANYTHING) so I am gleeful as all hell that you're writing about it.

This is not too drama-queeny, either. I kind of love that kind of language. I also appreciate this is not ANGSTY, either, as it can easily fall into that. Regretful, maybe.

I want to write you pages and pages of a love letter, as I am a weirdo in that I love paladins and white wizards and the fact they are morally ambiguous too and maybe it doesn't always have to be about the broody ones ( ... )

evil!Rosa has been tossed around by people from time to time. I LOVE the idea so long as it's done right. If done right, it can show just how much power Rosa really has and highlight the good traits of her actual character in the game, among many great things.

Obviously if done wrong (usually by someone with something against the character), it just gets used to make her look bad. I'm excited for the possibility of the first one, not too keen on the second.

I think there's going to be at least a few "Rosa evil/corrupt" things on the horizon since she comes off so good and pure to people that they're dying for her to take a fall and be a bad girl for a bit.

I'm still dying to play with that idea, but I probably have to play with this in-game fic first because it is EATING MY BRAINS

Or it's fun. XD

The fun part in turning someone who's a good person evil is the why, I think. It makes me sad when the why part sucks ass.

Very yes. I read a story a few months back where Rosa died because of some curse triggered by grief. I don't remember who wrote it. I feel like I shouldn't be judging too harshly just because maybe it's my fandom for Rosa that makes me feel so opposed rather than anything in the story itself, but it bothered me because it seemed like it was absolutely not the type of thing that would have or should have happened to Rosa.

In sum, she randomly acts like a cruel schizophrenic. It was powerful, yes, but it didn't seem like the type of thing that would happen with Rosa. It seemed like something that she would be powerful enough to overcome or not be affected by at all on her own. The focus seemed to be on Rydia too, which might have been another part of why it bothered me, the feeling that it was more to give Rydia something to play off of than anything else.

BUT, again, I worry I may be judging too harshly and my fandom might be influencing that judgment in odd ways.

Eh, well, the job of an author when they bend things out into something unexpected to keep up a level of suspension of disbelief--that is, have it make sense why someone would act that way within the context of the story. So it's probably not just you, you just didn't buy the premise as readily. There's a way of telling someone something like that and it not sounding like the crazy.

So, it may not just be your bias, it might be the fact that the reasoning was a little thin. I adore AUs and crazy deviancies, but I like them to have adequate reasons for doing so. Even crackfic sets up its own rules and follows them, if it's the good variety.

And hey, it's your right not to like something, because we all have favorites. I always feel a little twinge in my chest when I disagree with a portrayal. It's not silly, it happens. We obviously care enough about the characters to read/write/draw/obsess over them. ~_^

they are morally ambiguous too and maybe it doesn't always have to be about the broody ones.

Which is one of the reasons I want to write this particular fic -- it's something different for fandom (and also, something different for me, with characters I don't usually deal with).

I mean, seriously. The BAGGAGE. I keep using that word because it's so RIGHT.

Don't tease me with that evil!Ellone. Unless you want to trade chapter-for-chapter (or piece-for-piece)...

Yeah. I like that. I mean, I'm not IN FF4 fandom, but I'm in others and I know the tendencies. Not to sound bitter, but I'm on a very "fuck the obviously angsty characters" kick lately. Half the reason I like reading/writing is to deviate from the obvious (which is why when I write Aeris, I write about how I thought her slum time was fuck you Crisis Core for making her stupid as an example). Because there is so much there!

Dude, you still owe me MUSIC. I FINISHED THE RINOA FIC (even if it skips around and is vague in places and the result of me staying up late and listening to too much Tori Amos).

I cannot promise multichapters of indefinite length anymore I will fail schoolGoal is to write evil!Ellone in three parts. Because it's also meta on Adel, Rinoa, and Edea (yes, I'm leaving out Ulti on purpose). Which is why I haven't started willy nilly on ( ... )

This is an excellent trade! Mostly because it prods me to write bits and pieces, which I need.

on another more serious note, I can probably steal that album for you just in case my computer is non-recoverable. >.>
