On parenting...

I know that everyone has an opinion on how to raise everyone else's children.... and that most of the time it comes from people that dont have kids or that age group of children. BUT with that said... I am going to rant about some things that I see with other moms/dads. I know I don't have the same situation as them and god knows if my little angle

I completely agree with everything you've said.

I've seen it too, and though I try hard to make no claims, I sometimes cannot help judging my observations. At the very least it shows me what is not right.

In general, I find that the students I have that are the most mature, the most awake, and the most successful with focus and practice on the guitar, are the ones not living in a bubbly sugar-coated "mommy says this" reality.

my friend Veezie and I talk about the idiot parents we see sometimes and yeah, the "crunchy" (AP) parenting style is just following instincts. Do what comes naturally. Don't listen to the doctors or read the parenting books. What the hell do they know? As for discipline, it's different for each child. Some kids respond better to things then others. Some kids respond to nothing. That part, I can tell you from experience, isn't always the parents - it's just that the parents haven't found what works yet. I have 5 kids. Each one has a different personality. They don't respond to the same things. Some kids respond well to time out, others listen when you yell at them, others don't listen at all no matter what you do... Parenting can't be written about in a book because no two kids are the same. Not even twins

(In case you are wondering what I did with the doctors advice - I didn't take it! It pisses me off to no end when parents and docs talk about drugging kids to get them to sleep. Fuck that.)

Youre kids go to a holistic pediatrician right? I have been meaning to ask you about that! Adriana has medicaid and we go to Pediatric Associates ...mainly because her pediatrician was also Francesco's when he was a child. But I hate that office so much.

Make your own food/juices if you have time! I have a friend who does it and her baby could not be any healthier :)
Last time we were out she busted out this mixed juice and the baby had it for lunch and fell asleep within like 10 minutes he liked it so much
