It's undeniable -- it was wrong for you to have done what you did. You're an asshole and a jerk. You're a hypocrite and a liar. You're selfish. You hurt and betrayed your family, your supposed loved ones.

But you were unhappy.

That doesn't make it right, but if you were unhappy you should've said so. You never should have lied. You should have been honest, with yourself and your wife and your children and with the god you pray so endlessly to.

But you were unhappy.

I know what that's like, but you're still all of those things, all of those damnable things. forgiveness is not easy to come by, and your uncertainty in accepting this forgivness tells volumes of how all people have truly overestimated your character and your devotion, your love and your integrity.

Can you still call yourself a religious man?

This teaches us that religion does not necessarily equate to morality.
