hello all! i'm back!

so after a 28 day hiatus from the internet, i'm back and better than ever.  For those of you wondering, I did not win my appeal with the disciplinary committee even though I don't even have the software "Gnutella" that i'm accused of using (the P2P software, not the delicious hazelnut spread...if it was the latter i'd be guilty as charged).  Regardless, i have been reconnected but still have not paid my 50 pound charge (over 100 Cdn) out of protest.  what are they gonna do? pffft.

things have been hectic, but wonderful lately.  I'm doing well in my research, and finding it really really interesting.  I've been attending a lot of conferences, and seminars and feel my brain growing by the minute...or at least i hope.  I've got a lot of travelling planned in the near future.  Jordan is flying into London on the 23rd, where we'll stay in the city until the 27th when we fly out to Amsterdam until Mar. 2.  I'm going to Malagia, Spain mid-march with Sean because his aunt owns a villa on the ocean that we are using for the weekend.  Then i'm going to Athens, Greece towards the end of March for a week during our spring term vacation to stay with some friends with family there.  It should be an exciting adventure!

I had a slightly frightening encounter last week as I was followed and subsequently harrassed by a drunken man on campus.  He kept creeping up behind me and telling me we were going to sleep together and all this gross shit.  I decided to ignore him and then go to a public place (the arts centre) where I hid in the bathroom for about 10min.  When I came out he was gone so I felt it was safe to walk the rest of the way home.  On the way home I got stopped by a security van that told me that the man was headed in my direction and that i should let them drive me home.  I obliged. scary scary scary.  I asked the security dudes why they didn't get this creepy man off campus and they said that they couldn't do that.  my god, the british are too polite for their own good.

england got it's first dose of snow last friday and you'd think it was the apocalypse.  we got, literally 2 cm of snow and all schools were closed, trains, buses and flights cancelled and roads closed. MY GOD!  Then, in typical England fashion, it rained the next day and it was all gone.  I did however, have to suffer through an entire night off excited asian students snapped photographs outside my windown until about 4 am because they were so excited to see snow.

try not to be too mushy on valentine's day okay?  that holiday makes me vomit.
