I don’t think I’ve mentioned this before, but the
Accessible Train Times website is one of those little wonders of the internet. If you’ve ever had to fight to get any kind of useful information out of
http://www.gner.co.uk or
http://www.virgintrains.co.uk, you should have a look at it.
It doesn’t need Javascript in order to work at all and it doesn’t create new windows for each link you click. All the information is dredged from the train companies’ sites, so you get the same results in a nicer format. So give it a look.
If you’re still skeptical though, how’s this for a Unique Selling Point? You can make queries directly via the web address without needing to learn anything complicated. For instance, if I want to know what trains are going from Edinburgh to Glasgow today, I can just type:
http://traintimes.org.uk/edinburgh/glasgow And that’s it - pretty nifty eh? Extend it with a departure time tomorrow morning:
http://traintimes.org.uk/edinburgh/glasgow/10:00/tomorrow What about a full round trip to London, coming back on Wednesday night? Ok then:
http://traintimes.org.uk/edinburgh/london/09:00/tomorrow/18:00/next-wednesday I’ve got a couple of these URLs bookmarked in my browser and it really takes the effort out of checking train times.
