This thing again (by last years count, 13? But possibly 12)

Dec 29, 2017 23:34

1. What did you do in 2017 that you'd never done before?
Potty trained my kid, that was cool. Went on a cruise.
2. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I got a tan this year! Apparently that was on my list last year. Otherwise nope.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth? Nope.
4. Did anyone close to you die? Nope.
5. What countries did you visit? Mexico for a day.
6. What would you like to have in 2018 that you lacked in 2017? Oh, lots of stuff. Maybe a complete master bath, a redone kitchen, new floors, a patio, less debt, a husband that's home, you know, the usual.
7. What date from 2017 will remain etched upon your memory, and why? I guess touring Tulum was cool, Amanda's wedding.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year? Getting approved for the grant through work. Lowering expenses, handling toddlerhood and surviving singlehandedly.
9. What was your biggest failure? Not seeing what was going on right in front of me.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury? Not this year. I think I left work one afternoon to random nausea.
11. What was the best thing you bought? Well you see, I really didn't buy myself much this this year. Gonna go with William's fire truck that he's been obsessing with since Christmas. Even though it's from Santa.
12. Who's behavior merited celebration? You know, I have some really great friends.
13. Who's behavior made you appalled and depressed? No comment. Again.
14. Where did most of your money go? Bills and debt.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about? Amanda's wedding.
16. What song will always remind you of 2017? Not a song from this year, but did you know P!NK's "Who Knew" is about drug addiction? I learned that this year and hey, you know, it fits.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
I. happier or sadder? Same.
II. thinner or fatter? Thinner.
III. richer or poorer? Poorer. But things are looking up finally.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of? Home improvement. Travel.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of? I feel like I've really made the most of my time, I wouldn't take anything out.
20. How did you spend Christmas? at home with William, my moms for breakfast and presents, napping, main laws for dinner and presents.
22. Did you fall in love in 2017? Nope.
23. How many one-night stands? 0.
24. What was your favorite TV program? I don't think I watched pretty much anything this year.
25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? Hey! For once I can answer this "yep!"
26. What was the best book you read? Well, my students and I discovered Fly Guy. Also I'm a really big fan of "'Twas the Night before Thanksgiving." I did read some books over the summer but can't remember a single title. Or plot.
27. What was your greatest musical discovery? Not a great discovery, but I think the only new artist/song I really heard was Walker Hayes "You Broke Up with Me" because it's so catchy and I may go play it now.
28. What did you want and get? The Best & Brighest grant. That I haven't gotten yet.
30. What was your favorite film of this year? Uhm, Coco! And Despicable 3. These are all acceptable movies for me. Was Beauty and the Beast this year? I think so. That was good.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? 28. Beach, as usual. With William.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? bahahahahahahhahahaha so much. Worst year yet, and I thought 2008 and 2013 were bad.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2017? Literally the same because I can't afford new clothes. Maybe a few new things. Nothing fancy.
34. What kept you sane? Friendships.
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Well, not Trump.
36. What political issue stirred you the most? I mean, I'm pretty confused about the whole Trump thing. Can I blame my year on him?
37. Who did you miss? Dad, always.
38. Who was the best new person you met? Have some nice new people at work.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2017: it can always get worse.
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year: oh, my answer last year was good. Can I use that again? No? Okay. P!NK "and you sold us down the river too far, what about us, what about all the times you said you had the answers, what about us, what about all the broken happy ever afters, what about us, what about all the plans that ended in disaster, what about love, what about trust, what about us" ("What About Us," not the aforementioned song.)

Can I throw in a runner up? Coco "for even if I'm far away, I hold you in my heart, I sing a secret song to you each night we are apart, remember me, though I have to travel far, remember me, each time you hear a sad guitar, know that I'm with you the only way I can be, until I'm in your arms again, remember me." Doesn't really sum up the year but I love it so I'm gonna pull the Dad card and include it.
