As my mother
Views God.
A mythical
Ominous creature
With the power
To heal all that is ill.
To see
What cannot be seen.
Love,
Like God
Hold the power
To forgive
To make beautiful.
Love hold out
It’s hand
And walks with me
Along the shore of loneliness.
Much like God
And his so-called “footprints”
My mother relies on God
To cure her cancer
Her debt
Her depression
I depend on love
To stick by me
Get me through
God’s gift
Called
Life.
