Characters:Suzaku, Kakashi
Status:Closed
Location:Mail Room
Date: Friday, February 9th
Summary:Suzaku and Kakashi meet again and talk of Sasuke's advice to Kakashi.
Warnings:Suzaku's Award Winning Manipulation. Look at that face, I mean seriously.
Suzaku: Suzaku made his way towards the mail room, sighing softly. No word from his father thus far, though perhaps that was a good thing. The blond was still seething from Sasori's words, and vowed that he wasn't quite ready to relinquish his prey without a fight. But how to approach him now?! He had been lovers with that annoying Uchiha brat...and now that he knew he was Sasori's friend! Ugh.....it was all complicated.
Perhaps that was why he was so quiet as he tried to reach his mail box.
Kakashi: Kakashi trotted down the stairs, still thinking heavily on his meeting with Sasori earlier. He was rather unsettled still and didn't like having been backed into a corner by the redhead.
Deep in his thoughts, Kakashi moved towards the mail boxes on auto-pilot, hardly noticing the other presence there.
Suzaku: The blond turned, sensing someone else entering the small, dark mail room and nearly blanched at his success. Kakashi! Of all the people for him to run into! What luck! But he reigned it in, offering the other a very small smile as he clutched at his mail.
Kakashi: Kakashi opened his box, not really looking at the other. He automatically registered a presence there as he pulled out his mail and closed the box again, starting to page through it. There was a trashcan nearby for unwanted junk mail and Kakashi stepped towards it.
Suzaku: Eyes narrowed for just a moment, using his mail like a fan to hide his scowl...before his lips settled into a more calm expression, eyes softening. "It's a pleasure to see you again, Kakashi-san..." he murmured softly.
Kakashi: Kakashi blinked and looked up. "Nakashima-san." He said evenly, politely. His eyes fell to the neck bandage before looking again to the violet eyes. "How are you feeling?"
Suzaku: "Good. Better, thank you." was the quite response, letting his eyes roam from the eyes studying him to the mail in the other's hand. A toss of his head had his bi-colored bangs falling back over his shoulder.
"How have you been...?"
Kakashi: "Fairly well, thank you." Kakashi spared a brief smile before throwing some random coupons away. He glanced at Suzaku again.
Geh...getting out of dinner would be...more difficult in person.
Suzaku: He frowned, as if sensing the other's change towards him and took a step back, pointedly glancing away.
"I'm sorry, if I have done something upsetting."
Kakashi: Dammit. Kakashi took a breath and shrugged. "Its not you."
Not really. Suzaku had never been anything but polite to Kakashi. In a way the man did feel bad but Sasuke words coupled with Sasori's had made up his mind.
Suzaku: A faint, soft smile. A kind smile as if he understood all too well.
"I understand, Hatake-san." he murmured, as if the right to say the other's first name had been utterly jerked from him. Now came the game of guilt...without spreading it too thick.
Kakashi: "...Akasuna Sasori is your friend I understand. He and I have a...very unfavorable history and in all honesty, I prefer to avoid him as much as possible."
Kakashi looked at the violet eyes and nearly winced. The look on Suzaku's face...
Suzaku: "Friends...in a very loose sense. I don't have...many friends, Hatake-san...." he chuckled lightly, as if dismissing the fact. "I attribute some of that to not knowing how to act at times...and others just allowing myself to be around any who show attention, if only to talk to someone. I'm...too shy perhaps." he shook his head, frowning lightly, even as he was attempting to smile.
Kakashi: "I can understand that." Kakashi admitted. He had more than several acquaintances but not very many real friends. Not at the moment.
"Still...I'm sorry."
Suzaku: "I understand, Hatake-san, you have no need to apologize, believe me." he looked away, smiling bitterly, clutching at his mail.
Kakashi: Kakashi felt very unpleasant indeed.
"Nakashima-san..." He said. "...May I ask what the joke was that you and Uchiha Sasuke ended up fighting over?"
Suzaku: He looked away, suddenly fidgeting with the letters in his hand as if he were VERY ashamed of himself.
"Akasuna-san introduced me to Steven Lynch while I was helping him babysit. We were joking about a song he sings, NOT the baby herself. I have a baby sister myself, Hatake-san and I would NEVER truly do ANYTHING to harm her!"
Kakashi: He was still confused as to why anyone with a sane mind would allow Sasori keep an infant.
But the divulging that Suzaku had a younger sibling was new to Kakashi - something more personal than anything else the other man had told him. For a moment Kakashi was quiet.
"...Sasuke truly believed otherwise." He said softly.
Suzaku: "Uchiha-san....is quite aggressive...and I admit I have a temper myself...what we did was wrong and we paid the price physically and in having to stay in prison for a weekend...I never meant to...." he sighed, shaking his head, tossing a few coupons away.
"I'm sorry again, Hatake-san."
Kakashi: "...Nakashima-san..." Kakashi paused. "Suzaku-san...I just need...time to think."
He seemed uncomfortable. "In all honesty, my last relationship did not end...well. And it's made me rather...reluctant to pursue others."
Suzaku: "I understand, Ha...Kakashi-san." he said softly, offering the other a faint smile of understanding.
"I've been in relationships that ended unpleasantly myself, believe me. Take all the time you need...if nothing else...perhaps we can be friends?" he murmured, biting his lower lip as he tried to smile up at the other.
Kakashi: Kakashi paused for a long time and then slowly nodded.
"Alright." he agreed. For now at any rate. He would Suzaku the courtesy of proving himself at any rate.
Suzaku: He nodded his head and attempted to walk around him, as if afraid of upsetting the elder man with his presence. Steps were carefully measures, looks given sparingly so as not to seem to wan more attention. A careful game of chess and he was making his move.
Kakashi: Kakashi watched him and then sighed. He felt...like he'd done something terrible and it was...unsettling.
"Suzaku-san?"
Suzaku: He stopped, pausing a moment to glance over his shoulder curiously, peering back at the paler man.
"Kakashi...san...?"
Kakashi: "...If...you still wish. I would not mind going to Marty's with you." Kakashi smiled a tad. "As friends. If you don't mind paying your own way."
Suzaku: His smile was small, but growing a little. A soft chuckle of amusement was given.
"As friends. And I don't mind paying my way at all."
Kakashi: "Sunday night perhaps?" Kakashi suggested. He owed Suzaku at least a chance.
Suzaku: He dipped his head, lifting a hand to brush his hair back from his eyes.
"Yes, Sunday night is fine with me."
Kakashi: "See you then." Kakashi smiled and nodded his head politely, still reserved in a way.
Suzaku: "Yes." he took his mail and turned away, so that Kakashi wouldn't see the utterly smug smile that slid over his lips. Still softly, he spoke as he moved towards the door. "Take care, Kakashi-san..."
Kakashi: "You too, Suzaku-san." Kakashi said. He still didn't feel terribly alright about this, but one dinner could not hurt. He headed towards the stairs.
Just one dinner.
