I'm almost afraid to say it, in case it turns out to have been some cruel dreamtrick played on me by my subconscious during a momentary afternoon doze, but oooh, what the hell, I'll risk it - the plumber not only managed to turn up today a scant two and half hours late, but while here, he also actually managed to finish off the job!!! I won't really believe it till I've been able to have a wash and scrub up in the new jet-powered laser-guided super-reinstalled shower cubicle, and that'll have to wait till tomorrow morning at least (the silicone and grouting needing a while to settle in to their new surroundings), but ohhhh it's already so nice to have a shiny clean white shower cubicle in the corner of the bathroom, rather than the damp, dark and dirty gap we'd been living w/ for over a week...
I'm still touching wood, but from now on, I might once more actually be able to come and go from the house as I please!
It's amazing how what I was told three weeks ago would be a two hour job that should be done w/in three to four days, turned out to take ten hours of actual plumber's labour and thirty further hours of me waiting around in the house because of the plumber's lateness/apparent belief that it's not necessary to contact clients to let them know about it if you've decided you can't make their appointments, stretched out over, well, three weeks.
I hope to God that I won't have to speak/rage of this again.
Time to take advantage of my newly regained liberty, and nip out to the shops before the 6 o' clockers close for the day...
rage,
shoddy service,
