Dad's Christmas cake is now marzipanned and decorated; I was just going to make a mini version of his van (a Ford transit he's converted into a very distinctively MyDad campervan/motorhome thingo) to stick on top of it, but got a bit carried away and started making it up as I went along. Dad's gone off icing, so it was meant to be an all marzipan tarting up job, but once I'd decided to have a sleigh for his van to pull, I thought I'd really better provide a surface for it to be pulled on. Given that I didn't have the ingredients to make up a batch of white marzipan, and I did have plentiful white sugarpaste left over from my birthday cake, I ended up breaking my own cake covering apartheid rules and making snow from the scarily white fondant icing.
It's not quite finished; I want to glaze the raised bits of marzipan (if I can work out how to make a gum arabic glaze) and will probably eventually tie a ridiculous ribbon or piece of tinsel around the outside or something. I'm not sure I'm too happy w/ the Merry Xmas, either (and I don't really approve of Xmasing, but I'd patently run out of room for Christmas by that point). Gawd knows how I can make that any better looking...

Right, time to rush off to badly past its sell by date comedy show that I don't remember actually wanting to see in the first place. Did I ever? Who can say. Joy, rapture, and all that.
