I was saying to 
jetpack_monkey yesterday that on my If I Win The Lottery list is to have a decommissioned library circulation desk (although I suppose I could buy new) as the build surface in my Lego room. They're large and flat, a comfy standing height even for me, compatible with having tall stools pulled under them, and come with their own shelving both over and under the counter.
