I had a phone interview for a 6 month temp job in a corporate library in Orange County yesterday. I think it went well, at least as well as the SMC interview (on which I still haven't heard). Which leaves me with a dilemma: what if I get offered both?
On the one hand, the SMC job is at the circ desk. Public service in a very busy library. They can have as many as 8000 people through the door a day. The corp library is document delivery and some indexing/document management - back of house and almost all electronic. It's a much better fit for me.
On the other hand, well, the SMC job is permanent. Benefits, no more job hunting (unless I hate it). I assume I would be close to the top of the hiring list if a tech services job opens up. They haven't said how much the corp job would pay, because it's DOE, but I have a feeling from what my contact at the temp agency said, SMC will be more. And even if it isn't, they do annual raises, if I can sit the desk that long.
Better fit vs. permanent. I have no idea which I should choose.
