Well, I have some good news and some bad news. Good news: I've decided I'm going to Taylor University!!! And that I'm applying to their Freshmen Irish Studies Program (FISP). The bad news: This decision was made partially because Wheaton rejected me. I've never felt so worthless. (that's not true, it was only temporary grief and I know it's only because you have to have connections to get in there, on top of being an amazing applicant.) I suppose I at least thought I'd get a "maybe we'll let you in after we look at the 2nd wave of applicants". I applied early action, after all, so they still have another round of applications to look at... and they already know they don't want me! Don't I feel special.
However, Taylor accepted me like 3 weeks after I sent in my application, and offered me 30% tuition and an application to go to Ireland, so I'm okay. I already put my little window sticker inside my car (though it wouldn't stick to the back windshield so I put it in a back window instead) and I'm very excited!
Okay, since practically no one is responding to my New Year's invitation, I'm getting desperate. If you're coming, bring friends! I don't know...invite more people, put up posters, something! Kyle's the only guy who's said he's coming. This party is going to be lame. SO TELL ME YOU'RE COMING ALREADY! gosh.
I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas, got good stuff, smiled and ate lots of food, etc. I swear there's no end to this whole "family" thing. As soon as Christmas is over and I think I'm done with the "you look just like your mother" and "you're getting so BIG" (thanks, thanks a lot...and who are you again?) I find out we're having MORE family over tonight! Don't get me wrong...I love my 85 year old great-aunt Stella and her daughter Trish. I would just like to get on with my bacteria research and scholarship applications with some peace and quiet! Geez. I'm only half-serious, really. I love my family, and they're so small (in a group sense, I don't have a bunch of 3-foot-tall relatives running around my ankles) that I'm not overwhelmed by a thousand cheek-pinching, mothball-smelling, cat-loving, silver-haired, slow-going, cane-using, too-much-makeup-wearing (almost Mimi-resembling) RELATIVES!
Suddenly my computer is typing really slow, so I suppose that's my cue to stop being silly and do my homework. I hope everyone FREAKING COMES TO MY PARTY and has a lovely day!
Oh yes, and I would recommend Memoirs of a Geisha. It's sad but quite interesting and artfully done.
COME TO MY PARTY!
