According to Ayurveda, many Kaphas have a stable, compassionate and patient personality. Though they may not learn things quickly, once they do, they never forget. Kaphas are generally not easily angered, but when provoked they can be as stubborn as mules. Kaphas tend to think over every decision they make carefully and logically, which can be time-consuming but often leads to wise choices. Kaphas can be in danger of becoming too complacent to exercise their minds or bodies regularly and may fall into a rut as a result. Healthy Kaphas often become doctors, nurses, social workers and teachers. Their patience, determination. and understanding make them excel at teaching and helping people, and they are the best kind of friend to have when you're feeling out of it. Kaphas can feel out of sorts when no one seems to need or want their nurturing nature. body.
Kaphas tend to have long, solid, large-boned bodies and gain weight easily. Their faces are usually round, and surrounded by lots of lustrous hair. Their eyes are often larger than others in their family. A Kapha's immune system can work miracles, and Kaphas may often find themselves healthy while others are sick. Kaphas may have a lot of stamina, though they are often physically inactive. Kaphas tend to suffer from clogged sinuses, bronchitis, allergies, colds and runny noses.
Taking care of your mind and body:
Kaphas have an enormous amount of potential, but often lack motivation to develop it. Keeping active is one of the most important things for a Kapha to do. Ayurveda advises Kaphas to pursue their interests--and to exercise their minds and bodies in whatever ways appeal to them. It is particularly bad for Kaphas to let themselves languish in boredom.
Ayurvedic principles of Kapha health indicate that most Kaphas sleep deeply and need at least 8 hours of sleep a night. Eating pungent (cumin, paprika, pepper, ginger), bitter (eggplant; green veggies like collard greens) and astringent (lentils and beans) foods helps to balance kaphas' energy. So does taking time out to meditate or just clear the head.
