"Its most defining characteristic seems to be bringing together beings who would never meet in the normal course of events. Purpose, on the other hand, implies intent. If the Nexus has any sort of purposeful guiding hand, I haven't spotted it yet." Of course he hasn't been here that long, either.

I personally use it for being someplace more interesting than Blood Gulch. (I mean, I could go to one of the other colony worlds back in my universe, but... meh. I've never been able to fit into any of them well enough to make friends instead of just business acquaintances.) People are fairly accepting, stuff happens I can occasionally help out with, I can go to zombie-ravaged alternate Earths for combat practice and liquor store looting.

I only take well-sealed bottles, and I scan and sterilize the crap out of them at multiple stages before I even think of cracking any of them open. I'm sure that ONI thinks that all of the baseline scans I've taken for various kinds of known-good booze are unnecessary, but I've assured them repeatedly that they are wrong.
