My Life Since High School [Part 2]

Well after a long long period of procrastination i've finally decided to complete this little series I started a while back.

I left off last time at the end of the cedar point season of 2003. Nicole and I had broken up and I probably spent the next 3 months sulking about it. I held a job at target for a little while but as has been my signature, I only held it for about two months because it was a seasonal position so once christmas season was done with they told me I pretty much wasn't needed anymore.

Between January and March of 04 I strongly debated whether or not I was going to go back to cedar point before eventually deciding that I would. I had nothing holding me down at home and I really missed alot of my friends. I made some pretty stupid decisions that year but I did meet one very special person however I took her forgranted that season and well, I think everyone knows what happened there. Tara and I dated from the middle/end of march until sometime during the first week of cleanup week I believe. I was dumb and broke up with her because of a misunderstanding with something she said that I didn't even ask her to clarify on. Thats about as far as i'm going to go into that.

In 2004 I had an amazing time during cleanup week, even without realizing the mistake I had made in breaking up with TaraLynn. But as the season wore on things just didn't go the way they should have. It was my fault to be honest... I freaked out in controls of mean streak about something that the girl I was dating at the time had told me. I spent 5-10 minutes on the white phone with her (for those of you who haven't worked at Cedar Point, thats the phone used to call other ride locations and park operations from the ride.) When Gina, my team leader, came back into controls she could tell I was pretty upset and asked what was wrong so I told her, and then added some things that I really shouldn't have said.

That lead to me getting my in charge time taken away from me which was followed by me leaving the ride probably a week or two later. From there I worked white water landing for two weeks, thunder canyon for one and was then transferred to the engine house. I had a lot of fun from the time I was in the engine house until the day I quit. To this day I regret quitting that summer over what was going on between Alli and I. It's probably the biggest work related mistake I've made.

However quitting didn't turn out that badly for me. I got a job working for Lube Stop a month and a half after I had left, doing oil changes and various basic services for cars. Within 4 months I had become an assistant manager trainee, and within 8 months I had become an assistant manager at the highest volume store in the district. It turned out badly though as I was accused of doing things I hadn't done, was told I could either take a demotion to assistant manager trainee (which had been rennamed service specialist) along with the pay cut that went with that demotion, or I could quit. To put it simply that demotion would have cost me about 1400 dollars a month. I simply couldn't do it and by that time something else good was happening in my life.

TaraLynn and her now ex boyfriend Mike had just broken up for reasons i'm not going to post on here. I was the one there to comfort her (not the only one, but I was there alot) and eventually it led to us getting back together on september 25th 2005. In November of '05 I moved up to Bay City, Michigan to be closer to her so that we wouldn't have to deal with the strains of a long distance relationship so early on in being together. Things haven't been perfect, thats for sure, but love isn't perfect. Love has to be worked at and it has to be something both people want and I have no doubt in my mind that she is what I want and vice versa.

We're still together today and even though it's looking more and more like I'm going to be moving back to Cleveland because of job issues and other things, I think we both realize it's probably for the best. No, neither of us wants to be away from each other after being so used to being around each other every single day and night, you know? But Michigan isn't the best place in the world to find a job and I don't want to be working at a 6 dollar an hour job for the rest of my life. I don't want to have to try and support a family on that kind of job because I know it's something thats not very easy to do.

Hopefully things will work out with this whole apprenticeship deal that i'm in the process of applying for. That way I can get a job that will pay good enough to support me and even tara if it needed too and a few years down the road (3-5) will pay enough to really be able to support a family.

Thats where my life is at the moment. It's not the best position in the world to be in but I don't really have any complaints. My parents love me and support me in my decisions and I have a beautiful and amazing girlfriend who loves me unconditionally and will be there for me through thick and thin. I don't know that any person can really ask for more than that.

So, on that note... I've had this stoopid song stuck in my head forever...

We were at a party
His ear lobe fell in the deep
Someone reached in and grabbed it
It was a rock lobster

We were at the beach
Everybody had matching towels
Somebody went under a dock
And there they saw a rock
It wasn't a rock
It was a rock lobster

Motion in the ocean
His air hose broke
Lots of trouble
Lots of bubble
He was in a jam
He's in a giant clam

ROCK, ROCK, ROCK LOBSTER!
DOWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNN
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNN!

Underneath the waves
Mermaids wavin'
Wavin' to mermen
Wavin' sea fans
Sea horses sailin'
Dolphins wailin'

ROCK LOBSTER!

Red snappers snappin'
Clam shells clappin'
Mussels flexin'
Flippers flippin'

ROCK, ROCK, ROCK LOBSTER
DOWN DOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!

LOBSTER! ROOOCK
LOBSTER! ROOOCK

LET'S ROCK!

Boys in bikinis
Girls in surfboards
Everybody's rockin'
Everybody's fruggin'

Twistin' round the fire
Havin' fun
Bakin' potatoes
Bakin' in the sun

Put on your noseguard
Put on the lifeguard
Pass the tanning butter

Here comes a stringray
There goes a manta ray
In walked a jelly fish
There goes a dogfish
Chased by a catfish
In flew a sea robin
Watch out for that pirahna
There goes a narwhal
Here comes a bikini whale!

ROCK LOB STER! ROCK LOB STER!
