Ok. I'm really sick of this.

I am sick to death of Christianity being used as a thermometer for every frickin' political discussion in this country. I'm tired of hearing that it's never ok to say anything which might offend a Christian.

When the hell did Christians in this country lose their sense of humor? The idea that Christianity is being "bashed" everytime someone says "I'm not Christian, I don't believe in the bible, your deity holds no interest for me" makes me want to scream.

I'm pagan. I did not come to paganism as an adult. I was raised pagan in a time and place where there were damn few non Christians. I've spent 4 decades answering offensive questions like "You guys sacrifice and eat babies, right?" and responding to comments like "You think you aren't Christian, but I can change all that" and "You think you're worshipping a deity, but I know that you're *really* worshipping Satan and are just too stupid to realize it."

If I can respond to that with patience and generally a reasoned response, why the hell can't Christians? So what if someone says something offensive about your religion? Get the hell over it, and move on. We don't have a right not to be offended in this nation....NONE of us. Christians are not exempt from that.

This nation has some serious problems - a war that much of the population thinks was at the very least wrong headed, poverty, a lack of health care, a growing economic division between the wealthy and everyone else...I could go on and on.

Can we *STOP* centering political discussion around who attends which church, who said something some Christian sect or other finds "offensive" and please, please, please actually discussion SOLVING the frakking problems?

It's just bizarre. Ten years ago, if you asked me if I had a problem with Christianity, I would have given you a firm no. But now I *do* have a problem with it...it's stopped being a religion and started being a litmus test. BE Christian. LIVE Christianity. And stop assuming that your religion is so far superior to everyone else's that you get special rights not to be offended.
