10 ten reasons why I love working at Lane Bryant-
1.) Everyday I see women walking into the store who are plus size, and who are beautiful. It reminds me everyday that large does not equal ugly. (*and Plus-size does NOT equal fat*)
2.)I have women come into the store who are constantly apologizing for their size. woman who work too hard, are mothers who have borne children, girls who are not society's idea of what your body is supposed to look like at 20- they come into m store and whisper their size me me. Here's what I like about that...
3.)I get to tell them that it DOESN'T MATTER.
4.)I get to tell them that they are BEAUTIFUL.
5.)I get to show them clothes that make them FEEL beautiful. and that FIT.
6.) I get to meet new people everyday. I get to congratulate mothers for having borne their children- and show them a top that doesn't make them feel "motherly" -AND is stain-proof. I get to show fashionable clothes to plus size girls who have tried and failed to find clothes in the junior section. (*aka the LAND DEVOID OF HIPS*). These people come into my store, I learn their names, and when they come in, I remember them, ask how their kids are, remember that they don't like shirts without sleeves, or that their favorite color is green. You know? it's so cool.
7.) I get to give fashion advice. and, occasionally, We have women that are completely clueless about clothes come in- and i get to dress them up- and teach them how to dress themselves! I get to watch them develope their own personal style instead of just wearing whatever they can manage to find that fit a plus size body (*ie covers it up- doesn't show it to it's full advantage*)
8.) AWESOME discounts. The BOMB DIGGETY and a HALF with a side of nacho cheese kind of discounts. Sha-BAM kind of discounts!.
9.)I get to learn about how to size bras. I love bra sizing! about 80 percent of the women who come into my store have no clue that they're wearing the wrong size bra! They don't even realize the difference between band and cup size! I get to put them in a bra that makes their old clothes fit like new, and makes them feel more womanly! WHOOT. hehehe. and I get to sell them cute underwear that makes them feel pretty (*even if no one is going to see it, THEY know...I think THAT was Victoria's secret. heh.*).
10.) I gain a little more confidence in my own body everyday. I think I see the things woman go through to be "pretty" and "Thin" and I go think "but what' they've got is good enough! why don't they see it!" and then I realize that I think all those things about myself. it helped me tackle my "size monster"- I no longer care about what size I'm wearing- as long as it looks good on me and shows me off to my best advantage! it doesn't matter who thinks i'm pretty, as long as I do! b/c people will think I'm pretty if I THINK I'm pretty!
