Well I’ve finally crossed the 80 page mark in my copy of the latest Harry Potter installment. Under normal circumstances I would be glued to the pages and I would only take meager breaks to utilize the facilities and possibly eat…but my niece is over and she has made it nearly impossible to act in such a manor. It doesn’t really matter to me though. The sooner I get this one out of the way the longer the wait for next book…
I mean, that is exactly what I can’t stand about the people who wolf down the book like an Ethiopian at an all you can eat buffet. What’s the point? It’s not like if you read it any faster than anyone else that you’re going to achieve some sort of feat worthy of a cookie or a trophy.
I remember when the Order of the Phoenix came out…or maybe it was Goblet of Fire…in any case, it was right before the fourth of July and this women was selling Harry Potter pillows at her craft stand at the fourth celebration. I decided I’d buy one, they look nice and it was in theme and spirit with the week. Well, when I went to pay for the pillow the woman asked if I had gotten the new book…so I answered “Yes”…I mean it seemed like an innocent enough question and appropriate for the product I was purchasing. Well, once I opened the preverbal door to conversation the woman went on to tell me she finished the book in two nights and that anyone who couldn’t clearly wasn’t devoted and was an unskilled reader. I ignored the insults of the woman who was trying to place herself above me with just about the only thing she could…and just thought how stupid she was. I felt like saying, “Congrats A Hole! You’ve only made the wait for the next one that much longer and you’ve achieved absolutely nothing!”
If you’re one of those people whom are trying to run the race…there’s no finish line and no one is going to commend you.
Oh, and thank you to the person who wrote that lovely anonymous comment. I’m leaving it simply because it makes no sense and shows that the person who wrote it [which is not really a mystery] has the intellectual capacity of a second grader…way to go.
