Whats funny to me is, if you follow college football, you would have heard of Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart. They are, respectively, the star running back and star quarterback for the University of Southern California (USC) Trojans, and all year long, all you heard in the college football world was "USC is the best ever", "Matt Leinart is one of the greatest QBs ever", "Reggie Bush will be first in the NFL Draft and is an unbelievable player" blah blah blah...
Plus, USC was gunning for its 3rd straight National Championship, which is only partly true, because while they won the BSC title last year versus Oklahoma, when they should have played Auburn--yes, they would have beaten Auburn, but they should have played, the year before, they won the AP Poll's National Championship. LSU won the BCS Championship (again, playing Oklahoma, the team that should not have been there). So anyway, LSU and USC split the national title.
Anyway, tonight, Texas beat USC for the national title. Know that I'm a big Texas fan--used to live there back when I was a kid, would have gone there if I would have remained in Austin, and almost went there anyway, though I fell in love with Troy.
So, now, finally... Texas gets some respect. USC came in and really thought they'd finish this pretty quickly and get their third title, Reggie would get a #1 spot in the NFL draft, Matt Leinart would finish his godlike persona in Los Angeles... but no no. Vince Young, Texas QB, DOMINATED this game. He ran roughshod all over the field, and the whole season after kissing the booty of the USC team, its finally recognized that Texas is the best team in the land.
Yes, yes, if Jesus were a quarterback, perhaps he would have been Matt Leinart, but not today. As a further show of class, Leinart not only said that Texas didn't beat them, they beat themselves, he went on to say that he thought USC was still the better team all around, they just lost this one tonight.
Its hard for me to really like a guy who loses like that and looks like Bachelor Bob. Hey Matt--HOOK EM HORNS!!!!
