First thing's first - I'm going to be Maureen in Rent!!!!!
The company Miguel did Aida with is doing Rent next and I'm Maureen!!!! AAHHHH! This also means I get to spend 3 weeks in Puerto Rico with Miguel - how amazing is that???
Halloween was really great this year. I wish I had had more time to watch my favorite Halloween movies, though. Usually I'm planted in front of the TV watching AMC's Monsterfest 24/7, but not this year. Working 9-5 plus rehearsals at night is KILLING me.
Anyways, Miguel took me to NYC's best haunted houses the weekend before Halloween. Blood Manor was my favorite. I have never screamed so much in public lol It was so awesome and so scary!!! We also got to meet Patrick Bateman which was the highlight of the evening for me lol
We also went to see The Nightmare Before Christmas in 3D, which is something I love love love doing!
On Halloween, Dustin and I met Miguel at his school and off we went! Miguel and I were dressed as Princess Buttercup and Wesley from The Princess Bride!!! The people who got our costumes freaked out. One girl took pictures of us and everything lol. I think Dustin was the star though - everyone loved Eddie Munster!
We wandered around the village forever trying to find people, but without much success. We ended up at Marie's Crisis singing showtunes around a piano lol It was so much fun!!!
On Tuesday I went to vote for our future president before work. I voted for Obama, though I still believe Hilary would have been the better option... but whatever. Obama still rocks my world.
That night, Miguel's cousin who was visiting him for Puerto Rico with her two friends wanted to hang out with Miguel and I before they left. We ended up at a diner watching CNN on the big TV near the bar. After we ate we were walking towards a bar we were planning on going to when all of a sudden, the city EXPLODED with screams. I ran into the bar and saw that they had announced it - Obama was going to be our new president. It was insane! I called my parents, I hugged strangers... It was euphoric! After we watched Obama speak (which left everyone teary eyed) we left the bar and headed for Union Square. So many people were gathered there just celebrating this historic moment together. It was insane!!!
I'm really glad to have lived through that - and hopefully through the recovery of the United States.
And I'm glad I got to experience it with Miguel. At one point, it crossed my mind that this was a new beginning on a personal level too.
Here's to new beginnings!!! <3
