That wasn't so bad. It is your journal and you should use it to vent any time you need to. Don't worry about your readers. Major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, New Years and others are a major downer to a lot of people. I always thought that someone ought to work on a way to get people together who were unable to enjoy such holidays. If someone could come up with the right mechanism, no doubt they would no longer be lonely and depressed about it, but they would also probably make a fortune out of it.
One thing people can do is to get out and volunteer at different venues. It won't make money for a person most likely but it does get people out with others and gives them a chance to do something good. I've always gone to a shelter on Christmas to help serve meals to the homeless and others less fortunate or to a community center to help out with childrens programs held on Christmas. I am Jewish so Christmas doesn't have the importance to me that it does to Christians, but since I do have the day off anyway, I might as well do something constructive with my time.
