Sad news won't happen until you hear it
Didn't open Facebook for a while. Today read sad news. David passed away week ago - his son Thomas writes. "It is with a heavy heart that I share that my father, David Clarke passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in his sleep May 13, 2024."
I know David for dozen years. Alumni of Carlton University faculty of political science, journalist and writer he helped me with my English writing. He was my good friend. I often visited him at his parents, 80 years old traditional Canadian house at Midway avenue. We drunk a lot of strong Colombian coffee with cigarettes in his abandoned overgrown garden and discussed about life and history. Latter I helped him to move to his new small social apartment on Kirkwood avenue, poverty and bad small surrounded it. But life is life and goes. David was full of energy and continued writing scripts and attending gym. When I had to left Ottawa we continued communicate by Skype, old technology but still works. On our last picture near Somerset tower in November 2017 David wrote "Sad, sad day for me. Maybe I will visit them in Saint Petersburg, Russia one day." Last time we talked two weeks ago and everything was well. I miss you David. RIP
