i got up at 4:30 AM to get ready to head down to the grauman's chinese theatre for the x-files premiere on wednesday. needless to say, i was dead tired.. and i hate waking up when it's still dark out! but i had to do it for DD and GA :) we got to the theater at about 7:30 and 50 or so people were already there. the girls from the front of the line at leno were there since midnight. crazy. i met
aprilbegins after knowing her on lj for years and she had a couple of friends that flew in from virginia that were really nice too (they had won an ebay auction to meet GA at leno the day before). she took this exciting pic of me and mark (she had a lot of others but i don't think they are decent of me so this is all you're going to see!):
mark was trying to ignore all the x-philes and listen to music. poor guy isn't even a fan of the show!
the tickets weren't distributed until 4pm so we had to wait A LONG time. it didn't go by that slow though since we had other people to talk to. we walked to the mall across the street and found a starbucks, they were filming an episode of ten or younger from TLC. i don't know if you've seen it before but they basically put a person on display and have people guess how old they are. then they do a makeover and supposedly they are supposed to look 10 years younger. it's always really ridiculous because the people will be 40 and the crowd will be like "wow there is no way, they've got to only be 20!!!" riiiight.
there were tons of interesting homemade XF shirts and awesome sketches/artwork that people were doing. usually the stuff i see sucks but these people were really talented!
we didn't get our wristbands until after 4pm, they started late. they were black rubber and said "THE X-FILES: I WANT TO BELIEVE" on them. we got our spot on the bleachers in front of the theatre, and they had blocked off the street so there was no traffic (they don't always do this). we had good seats but the morons that set up all the posters on the red carpet put 2 in front of the stage where the conference was going to be! so we kept chanting "MOVE THE SIGNS" and eventually they heard us and got them out of the way. we waited some more, in the sun this time though.. and people started to arrive. DD wasn't that close to us but man, i could tell he is definitely even more attractive and sexy in person! haha i still need to meet him one day. you can get an idea of how it was set up:
smiling. how sweet!
i'm on the left. it wasn't easy taking a picture of myself on the screen without getting the camera in the way!
the Q&A was pretty sucky since people asked really dumb questions. i thought they would've had better ones considering they were hardcore fans. oh well. i spotted the alien bounty hunter though!
brian thompson and scary fake boob girl
people started rushing off the bleachers before the whole thing was over and i overheard that they were letting us in. chris carter came out and supposedly announced it, i couldn't hear it because there was so much commotion! then we got confirmation! they were letting as many fans in from the bleachers as possible!!! so crazy. i never thought they would let us in to see it with all the stars from the show. we had to check our cameras so that part sucked, i wasn't going to try to take any pics inside but they can't trust us :) we got free pop and popcorn, and i saw mitch pileggi a few times.. near the concessions, and by his seat. i didn't have anything to say to him though and i met him years ago. i found david duchovny's seat and for some reason his wife wasn't with him, but garry shandling's seat was in the same row as his. i saw the 2 younger girls from californication though.
there weren't many good seats to choose from, so we were looking around...and i saw the bounty hunter's girlfriend with a ton of seats in front of them. of course we sat there! i had to watch my neck though :) he came back and sat down and was texting somebody (how'd HE get his phone in??). i'm surprised he didn't even have his own reserved seat though considering he was on the red carpet even. sucks to be him. april's friend julie asked for an autograph and he signed her tv guide and april's, so i thought i'd ask for mine too (somebody handed out the TV guide with DD and GA on the cover when we were in line). he asked about my tattoo and then commented on my name, but he just felt bad for me since it was confusing and wondered why my parents did that to me. thanks buddy... he still spelled it wrong btw.
the movie started and there were many cheers throughout, it was awesome to be in the same room as the cast and crew! there were many in-jokes that were fun, but i didn't care for the romance between mulder and scully. i never was much of a shipper. i'd be fine just seeing the flirting, etc. the movie itself was pretty good... not as good as my favorite episodes or anything. it definitely isn't scary like they say it was supposed to be. creepy yes, scary no. i don't have much else to say about it. but stay after the credits!
we left and i didn't see any "stars" outside except garry shandling at the car ready to take him away, and mark snow (the composer). they had this really awesome light shining against the wall that would have the big X and then "i want to believe" over it.
april's friend julie, me, and april by a cool display they had outside the theater
then i was off... more later!
