tennis rant
Note: this entry will be extremely boring except maybe to Stacie who knows what I'm talking about here...
I absolutely love watching tennis...I'm obsessed with the game! I was so stoked that there would be tv coverage while I was home for spring break and had the time to sit and watch it! I'm very passionate about it and get a little too into the matches sometimes! I'm obviously a fan of the American players...Andy Roddick, James Blake, Mardy Fish, Robby Ginepri, Justin Gimelstob, Andre Agassi, etc. I'm disappointed with how that much talent isn't bringing the kind of results that would be expected. I know that everyone has a bad tournament, but come on and freakin win some matches!
I shouldn't speak too soon because I still have hope that James Blake will beat Tommy Haas tonight!
Other than that...Andy Roddick has been my biggest disappoint...he's my favorite player so I tend to critque and pay mroe attention to his flaws. He's #3 in the world for goodness sake...that's not shabby at all...but lately his results in the important tournaments SUCK...I wouldn't be frustrated if he lost to someone like Federer, Nadal, or something..but they said 4 of his losses this season have been to players outside the top 50...the 3rd player shouldn't lose those kinds of matches this often! and I'm tired of his little speech before all the tournaments about how he's changed this or that and how he's finally confident and feels great...and he fools me with it for a round or two where he plays great and punishes his opponents...and as soon as I say "he's back..he's ganna win this tournament," he blows it! uggh! I'm frustrated! I feel bad for him...but he's gotta do something to pick up his game or his ranking is going to suffer!
As for the other guys...Robby Ginepri- had a great summer but it doesn't seem to be carrying over into this year, Mardy Fish-is slowly making a comeback, but has a lot of work to be done before he can be a serious contender again..I know he can do it, I remember the silver medal he won at the olympics, Justin Gimelstob-he's one of my faves to watch as he dives all over the place, but he hasn't shown any consistency! Agassi- he either needs to retire before he becomes a joke or start winning! COME ON USA!! there is so much potential...I want to see it converted into results! This tournament has made me very frustrated! I've still got faith in James Blake...and hoping that Nasdaq100 next week has different results! and I especially hope that these guys are playing better so I don't waste a birthday present on Legg Mason..I dont wanna go there to watch them all lose!
