Since the baton was passed from kissedbythegods...

1) Total number of books owned?
Uh, good question. I probably have around 100 books of my own. Collectively, my family probably has around 500. I don't know. There are books everywhere around here. I think we should make the spare bedroom into a library.

2) The last book I bought?
Catalyst.

3) The last book I read?
Romeo and Juliet. Well, technically it's a play. Whatever.

4) Five books that mean a lot to me?

1. Stones. I remember not being able to put this book down the first time I read it. I also remember not being able to put it down the second and third time I read it, either. It's one of the few books I can read multiple times and find new reasons to love it each time.

2. The Velveteen Rabbit. My ex-aunt (is it just me or does that sound funny?) gave this one to me when I was about three. Whenever I'm sick, I like to grab a book from when I was little and I usually end up reaching for this one. If you haven't read it, you're really missing out. It is so cute.

3. Girls in Pants. Well, actually, I love all of the Sisterhood series, but I'll just choose this one since I adore the ending. Anyways, the real reason I like these is pretty much because I can relate. There's always something captivating about a book that you can relate to. Plus, the characters remind me of certain people. And yeah, it's a good book.

4. Kate. This was a fairly short read. I read it in less than a day while we were on vacation. Actually, I finished all the books I took on vacation before we even got there, so I had to buy some more when we got there (which worked out well, since there was a great outlet with cheap books. Hee!). It may have been on the short side but it's one of those books where it pulls you in and you get attached to the character. It's kind of predictable, but the main character, Kate, has some interesting traits to her. She isn't portrayed like most girls with cancer are, I guess.

5. Irish Chain. I'm such a sucker for historical fiction novels. This one takes place during the Halifax explosion and is about how that impacts this family. It's sad in parts, but good. I need to read it again.

5) Tag 5 people and have them fill this out on their LJs:

On the subject of books: any suggestions as to what else I should read this summer?

And now from books to some random music recs, since I had to upload them anyways.

Artist: Imogen Heap
Song: Hide and Seek
Link: Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth
Comments: This is the song from the finale of the OC that they played during the not-so-sad funeral scene that actually made it slightly sad.

Artist: The Guggenheim Grotto
Song: A Lifetime in Heat
Link: Your hands fit me like a glove
Comments: A girl recommended this song to me from teh_music because she figured it would suit my interests. She was right. It's simple but pretty.

Artist: John Mayer
Song: Inner City Blues
Link: You make me wanna holler
Comments: Hahahaha, it's worth it to download it just to hear him say, "you make me wanna holler." Well, and because it's John Mayer.

Artist: Kelly Clarkson
Song: Vacation
Link: Two weeks without you and I still haven't gotten over you yet
Comments: I have no idea what this is from but it's a pretty happifying song, I think.
