In drama (class)- updates on Darrell

Today we got a definite answer:
Darrell's surgeons are saying he must have surgery- no questions.
They will remove his colon, rectum, part of his large intestine, and his appendix. This would require a small cut in his lower abdomen. He'll have to learn to control his "movements" again, which is part of his greatest fear.
Before they do anything they must get his white blood cell count back up. They want to keep him until they do surgery, but he may be allowed to take his exams. But he can not take the exams or get the surgery unless his white blood cell count increases.
Ultimately Darrell must decide whether he wants surgery. I'm not sure which way he's leaning. But if he doesn't get surgery, he will continue to get worse.
I have been in the hospital for the past week almost- all day and night. (except for class)
I'm sure as hell not leaving him... his mom doesn't need to do everything on her own.
I got a pull out sleeper chair- nice.
But the hardest part of the whole thing is seeing him in his hospital gown, hooked up to all the IVs and crap... it's so sad. I hate that they won't let him eat. He's getting nutrition straight into his veins (not going through the stomach) and it's about 14,000 calories. So he just feels like he's being starved to death, even though he's getting all the nutrition and liquids he needs.
I wish they'd hurry up, do the surgery, and get it over with. I want him home, or out of the hospital, and well. He doesn't deserve any of this.
