Glee 2x11 Reaction (Spoilers)
Glee started up yesterday, and so far it’s the same mixed bag that the previous ten episodes of season two have been. If they can ever figure out how to make their B plot as good as their A plot again, maybe I can stop feeling so torn about the show.
However, there is one thing that has me seriously, seriously pumped: Kurofsky. Up until this episode it’s just been a little nagging voice in the back of my head, but now I’m gonna say it: You can see the setup for Kurt/Kurofsky coming a mile away.
1. Kurt’s not totally fitting in with his new Glee club.
2. McKinley’s Glee Club is still technically short a real 12th member even when you add Kurt.
3. In order for Kurt to make his (basically inevitable) return to McKinley, Kurofsky needs to either leave or change for the better.
4. Kurofsky is starting to change for the better.
Up until this episode we’ve been missing the 4th point, and I was never really expecting to have it show up. I’ve pretty much just been sitting around thinking “Now if the show was really brave…”
Well, apparently it is.
Now, I’m most definitely a Kurt/Blaine fan. Duh, they’re adorable. But that doesn’t change the fact that we’re being set up for Kurt/Kurofsky and, frankly, that is amazing. The drama, the lessons, the damn good STORY that can come out of that has so much potential it's effing ridiculous. Not to mention it’s the more difficult and controversial choice by far.
Kurt/Blaine, although undeniably charming, is easy. Kurt/Kurofsky is messy, complicated, and demands actual growth in order for it to be even possible. Frankly, it’s something Season One would have done.
I’m so excited about this I can barely restrain myself.
Also: I really hope the Finn/Quinn thing was just (a great way) to spark drama in future episodes. Otherwise it's not even all the way through season two and they're already recycling couples.
Also also: If the glee/football conflict doesn't officially die if/when Kurofsky joins Glee, I will shoot someone.
