Theme parties, I love em!

So, my bestfriend
spinny1 (aka "Duck") and I have decided to have an Anne of Green Gables theme party.  It's strange, we've always really enjoyed reading YA books, but for some reason despite all of its rave reviews, Anne of Green Gables just never made it into our reading lists.  A few months ago, we decided to change that and both promptly bought the first book in the series.  I didn't love the first one, but pressed on and completed it.  I loved the second book, Anne of Avonlea, and laughed through the third, Anne of the Island (I'm currently waiting to receive the fourth book (Anne of Windy Poplars) from the library.)

I'm super excited about the Anne party, and on Sunday our planning finally kicked into full gear.  We now have our guest list, and we are both a bit surprised by how many people are on it.  We've both been casually mentioning the whole "reading of the Anne series" to friends, and have been surprised by how many loved the book growing up, or who had been meaning to read it and who have since speaking with us picked up a few of the books.  We've also planned a few activities for the party as well.  First, there will be bonnet making.  We're trying to find cheap prefabricated bonnet kits or to find plane bonnets that we can purchase on the internet inexpensively.  Then we'll get some flowers, buttons, glue guns, etc, and let the ladies have at some bonnet decorating.  Once complete, the bonnets will be worn.  We'll have tea, scones, and plum preserves of course (since they are Davy's favorite), all while watching the BBC Anne of Green Gables series.  It's going to be so much fun!  Other games will be played, and food eaten, but these are some of the bigger items on our to do list.  I CAN'T WAIT!!!

Now I just need to remember whether we choose September 13th or 20th as the date....
