Rush Party

Stupid rush party is tonight. Well, I wouldn't necessarily say party because it isn't one. All the little pledges come by, we act all sweet and normal and then they leave (hopefully). I am hoping those brats have eaten the suckers by now...

I stand in the Tri-Delt living room, waiting for the party to get going. Some of the new pledges seem nice, the sorority sisters running things seem frighteningly efficient, but I guess they've done this sort of thing before. I'm not sure what all is supposed to go on tonight, whether it's more just chatting people up and getting to know them, or what.

Cecile somehow managed to get me to agree to come to this rush thing with Jan. Actually...I'm not even sure I agreed.
There are lots of people. I have no idea what to say. or do.
Why did I let her talk me into this? I grab a sucker out of the candy bowls. at least that will give me something to do with my hands.

I catch sight of Amanda and move toward her. "Hey, started wondering if you'd show! This is fun, isn't it?" I say, looking around at the milling sisters and pledges. It all looks so...well, welcoming to me.

Jan! I feel a little better now. "I said I'd come, didn't I?" I twirl the sucker around in my mouth, it's sweet. "It's...nice. Theres a lot of people. ...I hope they like us."

[_janice_]

"They've been seeming pretty friendly to me," I say, smiling at Amanda. I feel better she's here, too. My roomie. "C'mon, I'll intro you to some of the other pledges. There's gonna be some kind of scavenger hunt!"

"That sounds fun. I can scavanger hunt." I grin and nod. I am gonna have a good time. "I am a scavanger hunting wizard. Show me these people who I will be competing with." I say being silly. I'm almost done with the sucker and maybe it's sweetend my mood, but I'm a lot less worried now.

I walk up to them with a warming smile. Good to see that at least one of them took the bait. I motion for Grae, Liz and Payton to come over.

"Hi, girls!" I say.

We walk over to Brit and the girls.

"Hi!"

[_janice_]

"Uh...hi?" I say, smiling as a bunch of girls from the house approach us. I hastily smooth back my hair, hoping I'm presentable enough to be Tri Delta material.

I place my hand on the girl's back. "How are you guys?" I look at one then the other, awaiting a response.

[_janice_]

"I'm having a great time!" I say enthusiastically. "I can't wait to hear more about all the activites you have planned.Like that scavenger hunt, that sounds really different." I smile at Brittany, thinking she doesn't seem nearly as stuck up as I'd first thought.

I smile back at her. The suckers must be working, thank god. "Yeah, we have a lot of activities planned. The scavenger hunt, Luau party, and what we have all be waiting for..." I pause for dramatic effect, glancing at Grae, Liz and Peyton. "The end of rush dance."

I'm not as thrilled when she mentions the dance. Let's face it, the last formal I was at? Less than a stellar good time. But I smile politely and say, "It all sounds great." And hey, maybe Wyatt would like to go to it.

"I don't think we've ever met before," I say. "I'm Brittany, but most of my friends call me Brit." I gesture over towards the gals. "That's Grae, that's Liz, and that's Peyton." I look back to the pledges and extend my hand. "Nice to meet you both."
