When short (1-2 pages), there's not a great deal of difference. You don't usually want to go over 2 pages for a simple job application. Also, there are very few hard and fast rules - most suggestions can be bent to meet the needs of a particular person.

http://ezinearticles.com/?What-is-the-Difference-Between-a-CV-and-a-Resume?&id=283507 keys in with a few of the things that I've noticed in discussions, though. In particular, CVs tend to list things chronogically and then list skills under that, whereas (I understand) resumes often go for a much more skill/talent based approach. So, for example, I'd list the schools I'd been to in order, the jobs I'd had in order, and list the responsibilities/skills under each. A lot of the time, my understanding is that UK employers want to spot any gaps in your history and ask you about them, so they like a chronological order.

However, it's quite common to have a "hobbies" or "skills" section, though - although it's worth not bloating the hobbies section, as it looks like padding. This can let you show off something that isn't obvious, though, like your passion for ballroom dancing or your fluency in three languages, or whatever.
