Greetings from Boulder, Colorado!
I'm staying in a SUPER CUTE Bed and Breakfast about a mile from Pearl Street (the Boulder pedestrian mall) and pretty close to the Colorado University (GO CSU RAMS) campus. It's been good here so far. Boulder's a college town. It's like Madison. But just shy of the Rockies. The weather is FANTASTIC (for today, at least). I spent some time walking around, got some dinner (with minimal hassle on the gluten-free front), walked around some more. It's pretty nice to be able to walk places with no hassle. I miss that. I also miss mountains.
I got to hang out at one of my 2 favorite US airports for a bit (seriously, I still haven't decided between DIA and Hartsfield-Jackson...they're the same airport in a lot of ways). I took a ride from DIA into Boulder while listening to Five Iron Frenzy. I looked out into the mountains and remembered how much better I feel when looking across the city of Denver into the front range.
Seriously. Mountains just make me feel better. Don't get me wrong, I know that Boulder is rapidly becoming a REALLY expensive place to live. I just miss the mountains sometimes.....mostly when I'm looking at them. The time that I've spent nestled in the mountains in Colorado is some of the only time that I've ever really felt truly alive, I think. I don't know what it is for sure, but I just feel more like life is worth living when you look out your window and see mountains. Who knows.
I'm not staying too long here, but I'm hoping that I can possibly make the most of the time when I'm not in meetings. I keep having designs of sometime coming back out to Denver (Fort Collins) and just hanging out for a while, but time, money, logistics, etc. just keep getting in the way. But I'll take the time in Boulder to breathe in the mountain air, get a little zen, and then gear up for life back in the flat plains of the midwest.
To life.
