i'm back at home in cumming for thanksgiving. its pretty crazy around here. i've realized that when we get back from break there are only two weeks of classes left and then a week of finals and thats it. this semester has flown by. it almost feels like it has been on fast forward instead of on play.
i've learned a lot this semester though. i learned that there is a grand total of maybe 4 people i will truly miss from clemson and 2 from home in cumming (excluding family) and 2 from app state. i learned that keeping secrets to yourself really is way more fun then letting people in on them. i learned that i am tired of the south. i learned that i have more of an idea of what i want to do with my life than i thought i did. i learned that i really do enjoy being alone, but sometimes you just need somebody else to be there. i learned that i still don't get along so well with females. i learned that sometimes certain things are more important than making an A on that test.
i bought my plane tickets. i leave february 3 and return june 23. i don't think i've ever been so excited in my life. i'm hoping to be able to do some traveling in australia and/or new zealand as well. i'm so ready to be in a new place surrounded by new people who have new ideas and beliefs.
my great-grandmother is really sick. she had surgery and now she is just getting worse and worse. i'm worried about her. there is a pretty significant chance she won't ever get better and will have to spend the rest of her life in a hospital. she is 90 and lived on her own and completely took care of herself up until the beginning of november. she still calls me randomly to tell me the best jokes she had heard lately. she calls and tell me about how badly she beats all the ladies at bingo and how she beats all the men at poker. she always said that the instant she can't cut her own toe nails and cook for herself then she doesn't want to go on living anymore. my mom is going to michigan to see her next week but i can't miss the school to go with her. i really hope everything turns out okay.
on the bright side, tomorrow there will be sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top and green bean/mushroom casserole and eggnog.
and i washed my jeep for the first time since the summer before last. i only did this because my parents have decided to sell the jeep. it makes sense i suppose because there is no reason to spend $500 to keep it insured for 6 months when nobody will be driving it. and then when i get back i could really use a more reliable and fuel efficient vehicle anyways.
also, i'm pretty much going to have absolutely nothing to do for the entire month of january so if anybody has ideas of what i could do to occupy my time that'd be great. maybe some crafty things or things not too terribly far away that i could take a weekend road trip to see.
