One of the things that I love about Scully is that she has different sides. Most of the time, she is in standard FBI attire, but once in awhile, Scully plays it up a little bit, and the result is either hilarity or drop dead gorgeousness. In all honesty, a Scully variation can make a mediocre episode just that much more enjoyable. Basically, it's fun to see Scully either a) out of her element, or b) being a little wacky in her personality.
So here it is for your viewing pleasure folks, my top eight ~Scully variations~ or as I have them, the top eight !Scullys.
8. fuck yeah I'm in Maine on vacay!Scully
This scene, from season five's Chinga, is humorous to me for plenty of reasons. The episode as a whole isn't that great, but it has some of the cutest moments of the series to me, one of which is Scully in her vacation clothes. Basically, she's donning ridiculous tourist attire, making her stand out as a visitor to the town, which is funny because Scully almost always likes to blend into the crowd, clothes-wise. And then the line on the shirt: Maine: The Way Life Should Be, just kills me because it's almost like she's sticking a big middle finger to the FBI, saying 'hells yeah, I'm on vacay'. And then the fact that she rented a convertible and is wearing ~hip~ sunglasses just amuses me to no end. I love seeing Scully have fun, even if she doesn't admit it, and that's totally the case here. Too bad some demon doll had to fuck it all up. But she did get a proposal from Mulder out of it.
7. fuck yeah I'm going to church on Easter Sunday!Scully
I just kinda wanna squishle her in this scene from All Souls. I've always enjoyed whenever the show explores Scully's Catholicism, and for some reason, seeing her in pretty pure white Easter Sunday apropo clothing is just so darling. I can almost see her as a child, going to church on Sundays with her little white dress, matching stockings, and cute little sandals. She's kind of precious right here and just oh-so gorgeous.
6. oh fuck no I'm undercuvah as a suburban housewife!Scully
Arcadia, oh how I love thee for a multitude of reasons, chief among them allowing me to see Scully in a night cream mask. But seriously (okay not really), Scully as Laura Petrie is incredibly humorous, mostly because you can tell that Scully is just so fucking uncomfortable the whole time, whereas Mulder is totally making the most of his role as her poopyhead adoring husband. I totally dig the mom-do and the cardigans on her. It's amazing because you can tell that Scully as a housewife, even as a fake one, is just so bored out-of-her-mind, like she just wants to take out her gun and shoot something. Oh Scully, never change pls.
5. fuck yeah I'm stuck in a virtual reality game!Scully
Okay, trufax: First Person Shooter is probably one of the most ridiculous episodes of the entire series. It's so poorly-written and almost unintentionally lolsy, but at the same time it's just so bad it's good. That first shot we get of Scully in her virtual reality gear, the camera pans up her body like she's some kind of uber bad-ass and I just ROFL so hard. Then she starts shooting a machine gun that's about twice the size of her and it's so WTF that I can't stop laughing. I just...I can't even. The only thing I can ponder is what the hell was Gillian Anderson wondering when she was in that costume. Yeah, it's just....yeah I got nothing. The pix say everything.
4. fuck yeah I love my bubble baths!Scully
Scully. Bubble bath. Scully. Bubble bath. Basically, it's exactly the way it sounds and it's so random to see our kickass redhead all nakey in the tub, but there it is. She's just so...conservative, that a bubble bath is almost like a treat for the fic writers. And it happens twice, which obvsly means that Chris Carter went into the forums to see the fan reaction. And obvsly, the fangirls approved. More naked Scully is NEVER a bad thing.
3. fuck yeah I'm wearing a little black dress on a dinner date!Scully
My thoughts -------------------------->window. And I basically included that top left cap because it's the best shot of her cleavage. Now that I think about it, En Ami is basically a Scully boobshow. But all fangirling aside, I almost love how vulnerable she looks here. She looks sort of uncomfortable in a very appealing and attractive way. I don't know if I wanna oogle her or hug her, but I love this scene. I mean come on, how often do you get to see Scully go nearly strapless? ALMOST NEVER.
2. fuck yeah I'm in Africa!Scully
God, Africa!scully, how I love thee. There's something about Scully in Africa, being all bad-ass with her intellectuality, trying to save the world by decoding alien spaceships that is just so fascinating. Her face is all sunkissed and the glasses! The return of the Scully glasses. I love them so much. And then that white tank top...good Lord. Makes you wonder why they didn't put her in a white tank top at least once an episode. It's almost like terrain!scully, out on the edge, in the wild. I don't even know...I think the first time I saw her being all bad-ass in Africa was the first time I realized just what a heroine this woman is. There's just something so organic and natural about her look, and I flove it.
1. My favorite....oh shit it's 1939!Scully
Triangle is basically the confirmation of my belief that Gillian Anderson has an Old Hollywood beauty aspect to her, almost like her delicate features were borrowed from a different era. But...guh, 1939!Scully's hair is so gorgeous, and that dress, dear lord, that red is so fantastic. The makeup, the everything, it's all just glorious.
