2009 ended on the same low key that it started...I guess there might actually be some truth to the saying that the way in which you ring in the new year will lay the path for how you'll spend it.
2009 was a good year overall. There were some ups and downs and things that seemed like a huge deal at the time that, in hindsight, weren't that bad after all. We saw some death and we saw some new life and we welcomed new members into our family. Overall, good things in that regard. People seem generally happy with what they are doing...myself included.
I fell in love with a work environment that I never thought I would. I feel like I've really grown as a nurse since working in pediatrics and while I still occassionally get the itch to move on, it seems to fade. I like what I do and I haven't been able to say that for a long time.
Financially, I'm sure we could be in a better place...but who doesn't say that? We're keeping our heads above water and not suffering at all. We live comfortably, but you won't see us jet setting off to Cuba this spring or buying a new big screen tv...put it that way :) But we do have a beautiful home to show for it (one we are never leaving, either!!!)
Kids are great. Madison is just so darn cute I can hardly stand it. She lights up the room where ever she goes and wraps her little hands so tight around your heart you can't help but fall for her charms. She's happy and bouncy and chatty and she can always make me smile. Cole is so smart! He's really coming into his own and has the biggest heart. I worried about him going to preschool but his teachers say he's the kindest little boy and everyone wants to be his friend. He's my sweet sweet boy and I can hardly believe he's going to be in kindergarten in September! Where does the time go?
Christmas was really nice this year...despite the fact that I had to work. I really can't complain though because since I've been a nurse, this is the first year I've really had to work on Christmas. It was a low key holiday spent with the kids and Jeff's side of the family here in town. Jeff cooked the Christmas dinner and I enjoyed the time I got to spend doing Christmas "stuff". We all received very nice gifts and the kids were thrilled with what Santa brought. Boxing day we went to Miramichi to spend time with my family and it was so nice. First year in a LONG time we were all together for Christmas dinner. Unfortunately, my brother couldn't fly home but we did at least get to talk to him on the phone.
New Years I worked day shifts and Jeff tried to stay up and ring in the new year with me. He ended up falling asleep on the couch and I watched the end of the BT special myself then went to bed. Nothing fancy here.
My goals for 2010 are things that I pretty much always decide to do and never stick to it...this year, being a new decade and all, I hope to accomplish more. I'm participating in a 50 book challenge and a 365 picture challenge. I also hope to cross off some things on my bucket list and lose a lot of weight to be healthy for a hopeful pregnancy come 2011!
