This has been the nicest birthday I have had in a while. It officially started on the 12th when my sneaky friends threw me a surprise party disguised as a playgroup. The van had died on me the day before so I wasn't going to be able to attend and Ashley came to my rescue and picked us all up. Little did I know, she has an alterior motive. Sneaky sneaky. So in we come and sit down...the kids start playing and I still have no clue. Kelly says "Do you notice something" and I'm totally oblivious. Party for me! I've never had a surprise party before!
Kelly's husband baked a delicious cake and they got me a bouquet of flowers and a potted Easter Lilly and a really sweet infuser. Little did they know how special Easter Lillies are to me. I used to get them for Gram every year for her birthday since it was right around Easter time. Now I have my very own that I will for sure be planting in my flower bed in the spring.
On the 14th, Heather came over with coffee the new Sophie Kinsella book that I've been dying to read! Didn't win a car on Roll-Up-the-Rim, but hey! The company was still much appreciated :) Then Ang stopped by with a gift certificate for Merle Norman. Ohhh yeah. Not sure what I'm going to have done yet, but I'm thinking eyebrows and parafin treatments for my hands and feet...or a facial. Will be lovely for sure! Later on in the evening Mom came down to spend the night because we were going to pick up Shay in the morning. She brought more gifts with her! She got me a beautiful breast cancer awareness scarf/shawl and the coziest pink slippers you've ever seen! Heaven! Nana sent down a beautiful spice rack and a gift card for summer clothes and Linda sent down a sandwich maker (which got put to the test the next morning, I might add!) and a Rachael Ray cookbook that I can't wait to try out! I heart Rachael Ray in case you didn't know :)
Then Sunday, we had the kids' playgroup Easter party at Ashley's and it was a ball! What a fun time! The kids had a blast dying eggs and doing an egg hunt. Always a fun time! Sophie surprised me with a balloon and a card with a free babysitting voucher...now I need to convince Jeff to take me somewhere hehe. When I got home, Jeff had been cleaning and did the floors (which I HATE doing) and we had stuffed crust pizza with all my favorite toppings and a Treatzza Pizza from DQ. Mm Mm Mm. He and the kids got me a brand new blender...which means I need to christen it with some fruity boozy drink ;) And I got a phone call from Corey, which is always nice...even nicer when he has good news to share!
Then today Kate had me over for cake and coffee with Heather and Stacy and she got me a really sweet hurricane type candle holder with a peony scented pillar candle. Very sweet. Dad called this morning..wrong day, but he always gets mine and Mom's birthdays mixed up. Always has, probably always will. That's just him. I didn't even bother to correct him. It's the thought that counts :) And I got a card in the mail from Nanny...with the wrong name on it, but again...it's the thought that counts!
Do I not have the best friends and family ever!?! I am one lucky girl!
