I'd have to say today was the least eventful day of the trip so far. Still, it was pretty fun. We got up in Pierre, drove to Brookings (just before the Minnesota border) for lunch, then on to St. Paul, Minnesota, where we are now comfortably enjoying the Arbit residence. It's good to see Alex again, and his family is really nice.
Brookings was kind of cool - we had lunch at this joint called Zesto, which had one of the best milkshakes and one of the worst burgers I've ever tasted. Then Dwight and I stretched our legs by playing a little frisbee in a park with a bunch of trees in it - with the wind and the trees all around, we had a lot of fun hooking our throws around tree trunks to each other. It was a really interesting place to throw a disc around.
The three of us went out to dinner at this cool cafeteria-style Italian place (I don't remember the name) and then had ice cream at Izzy's, which is nothing short of fantastic. Hung out at Alex's friend Chris's place for a while and got to meet a few of his friends from home - I'll be meeting the rest tomorrow. They're my kind of people - they all seem pretty cool, reasonably down-to-earth types. We had some good conversation going...the dynamic is different from what I've got with Andy, Matt, and Phil, but at the same time I can tell that Alex and these people have the same sort of friendship. I look forward to enjoying their company again tomorrow during our day in the Twin Cities.
