Alright, I need some help on where to shop for a vacation. I pretty much know I'm going to end up in San Diego in March, but has anyone ever tried this vacation websites... Travelocity, Expedia, etc?
I saw your post in the San Diego group and I thought I would read some about you before I made my recommendations.
I would suggest you hang out in the Hillcrest/North Park area. There are lots of veggie-friendly restaurants, shops, etc. I am not sure about lodging around there, but if you stay in hotel circle or downtown, you're but a bus ride away (or short drive).
Bars to check out: The Whistlestop is my favorite. Good people, fun vibe. Kinda hipsterish, but not overwhelmingly so. Lots of good bars in Hillcrest, too. (Hillcrest is known as the gay/lesbian area, but not overwhelmingly so. In other words, straight or gay, you'll probably have a good time.)
ocean beach is also great. I used to work at the international hostel downtown (DON'T STAY THERE), but I have heard the international hostel in Ocean Beach 9also called Point Loma) is a good deal and it's in a prime location. ocean Beach is very laid back, lots of chill people are there and there's some little shops, as well.
As for travel websites, they are so competitve now that you really will not find a difference between them, for the most part. I usually use Orbitz because I haven't had a problem with them yet.
