Hello people,
As you have probably surmised by the title of this post, my trip to Las Vegas didn't happen. We were within fifteen minutes of leaving for the airport when we got a message that the flight had been cancelled. They rescheduled us for a 6:00 a.m. flight on Christmas day. We would have had to get up at 2:30 a.m. to make that flight. Then we would have arrived in Las Vegas at 10:30 in the morning and wouldn't have been able to check into our hotel until 4 pm. I mean I know they would have looked after our luggage, but I didn't want to do my whole first day in Vegas on two hours of sleep with no opportunity to rest. We all three (father, husband and me) instantly and unanimously agreed to cancel the trip. It wasn't worth going all that way to arrive in a state of exhaustion on the 25th only to rush back on the 27th.
I'm not as upset about this as I otherwise might have been. I'm not really a traveler, anyway, as I've always said. I'm half disappointed and half-relieved. My main motivation had been to be out of town for Christmas. But hey, Christmas is over now and I won't have to deal with it again for another year!
So, some of you might be wondering where the next chapter of Dragon Lady is. The fact is that I was working right up until 9 pm the night before we were supposed to catch our flight, and then I needed to pack, etc. I did actually finish the chapter but I didn't have time to go through and tweak it. I haven't really had time alone with a computer and without the constant company of family members until now. After I make this post, I'll tweak Dragon Lady Chapter 5 and post it sometime this afternoon.
In other news, I bought myself a very nice Christmas present-- a Kindle paperwhite. I love the way it glows in the dark! It means I can sit in bed of a cold night benefiting from the warmth of my slumbering husband, and read until I get sleepy. Then, when my head starts nodding, I'm in the right place to just fall asleep, as opposed to in another room where lights have to be turned out and casserole pans reproach me and I recall that my mascara still needs to be removed. By the time I've dealt with all those things, my sleepiness has faded and wakefulness has returned.
To
bronze_ribbons, thanks so much for the Smooch Lions! They are everything you described. Am I getting some fruit value when I eat them? The package arrived mid-morning on the day we were supposed to have left. Naturally I ripped it open and ate half of my Lions immediately. "What's that?" my husband asked. "Dried fruit," I replied. Bwa ha ha-- he lost interest. Mine, all mine. Hey, I shared my Almondillos with him.
I hope you guys all had a nice Christmas and got good loot and maybe some good bargains if you went out shopping today! If you get a chance, drop by and let me know how you're doing.
