crazy month!

and i still haven't blogged about the whiskey and wine at cali adventure.

after working 12 days straight, i came home to a lovely spaghetti dinner from shelby before we packed up the car and drove to san luis obispo for gina's 30th bday weekend @ the madonna inn.  very kitschy as expected.  LOVED the pool area.  would like to NOT stay in bldgs 1 or 2 next time - absolutely NO insulation, and me being a light sleeper, it sounded like the neighbors were standing beside the bed yelling in my ear both mornings.  we stayed in the san francisco room and upon discovering the lack of insulation realized we needed a rock room next time, or at least somewhere in the more insulated 3rd bldg.

after lunch on saturday a group of us ventured into edna valley wine country for trips to tolosa, edna valley, baileyana, per bacco, and salisburyper bacco was the favorite for the majority of the group.  salisbury had a great no bubble sparkling called pinot naturale (in other words, they prepped the pinot grapes for bubbly but instead just made white wine.)

saturday nite we ate at bon temps cafe.  i was the last to get my food since the restaurant was pretty ill-prepped for a group of 30.  afterward we jumped in the hot tub and pool back at the madonna before being kicked out, then hung out w/ barbara & justin before making the rounds to the mini parties before turning in.

whitney our roommate had left by the time we got up and while shelby packed the car, i watched the us v brazil game.  we checked out and continued to watch the us game @ the bar, then rushed to slo for a bar that served food (mother's tavern since frog and peach only served booze too).  was bittersweet but i am proud of the guys nonetheless.  they are ALMOST THERE.

we met up w/ alex and the birthday girl at hearst castle for tour 4.  the castle is just as overwhelmingly gaudy as i remember.  the wine cellar was tiny, and there were some cool flowers in the gardens.  i took lots of pics of the weekend (but not many of the peeps involved - left that to gina;)) and will prolly post those sometime this week.

i'm on a sched to get to bed right now, so i best not start uploading now - will severely cut into sleep time.

alex and gina blew a tire just north of laetitia.  we made sure they were a-ok before getting back on the road.  our lack of planning for food in the santa barbara area sent us roaming around the ventura harbor where we stopped at scotch & sirloin.  we caught the last 20 minutes of the galaxy v houston game at the bar (la won - holy cow!) while we chatted it up w/ the bartender and ate a very good meal.

we got home later than we had hoped, but i slept like the dead once i hit the pillow.  then work was insane which is why i have to go to bed b/c in my exhaustion i am forgetting important stuff at work and that cannot happen - we are crunching for eff's sake.  i don't wanna be the one dropping the ball when i'm responsible for making sure others don't drop that ball.

a great big thank you to shelby for being the driver this weekend - was weird when we did the wine tasting and i was downing tastes.  i am so very gushy at the moment though thinking about how much he catered to me this weekend with the soccer and driving.  there's a couple of the many reasons i like this guy so much.;P  love you, ss!

sup, soccer, birthdays, shelby, trips, wine
