roaches, heat strokes, and...earthquakes?  i won't wish for those.

the book fair was fun yet again this year although we didn't do my usual schedule.  i have toned down on the book buying in recent years.  on sunday as we randomly strolled around waiting for the john landis q&a w/ moderator tim curry, we happened upon a bearded wil wheaton who was nowhere on the schedule.  barnes & noble were surprisingly absent this year with borders taking over as the official sponsor.  i met karie's boyfriend, olivier, as she ached from the heat, but i never saw kate.  we discovered two of our favorite valley places have westwood locations and felt very stupid about it.  the bus driver on sunday was very surly.

landis and curry had us laughing the entire hour.  curry intro'd landis as "a legend" while landis quickly retorted about curry, "and he starred IN legend."  landis was unable to impress a 14 yr old kid who had watched the blues brothers chase scene "like 150 million times" by telling him that it was four months of practical shooting in chicago.  landis laughed and said, "really, you COUNTED?" then after explaining further remarked, "you're not impressed."  finally, after a long pause of the kid staring at landis staring back, landis said, "sit down," and the crowd bellowed before the next question came.  one of the questions had minor laughter but shelby bellowing which prompted landis to say, "see this guy thinks it's funny." and on and on we went.  shelby had heard before the appearances one of the wranglers worried about tim curry b/c "he's sort of a freak," but curry seemed to do just fine and disappeared the minute it all ended.  i didn't buy landis's book although i am very intrigued to read it...eventually.

passed on kenny mayne's book too although it was funny hearing HIM read it.  i did pick up an auto'd copy of clive's new one as well as a few others for future presents.

we discovered the favorites list i made for my zune is over 9 hrs long.  i sadly know i could make it longer.

life gets in the way a lot lately.  it's already after 10p, i am functioning on little sleep, i have to finish the book club book by wed nite, and this weekend is booked solid.  i won't even mention workload or how i'm getting fed to the wolves in a little experiment right now.

i should've had salad with my dinner.
