spiffiness

weekend was full of girls - rebekah's surprise baby shower was saturday, so i met many of her friends and caught up with janice, carrie, dodie, & tracy.  bekah is to full term at 36 weeks with lindalee sitting high and rotated to the right.  she has gained practically no weight b/c she's been constantly on the go putting on a production of annie with the kids she teaches.  pregnancy brain was in full swing as she kept reminding everyone throughout the afternoon - from the beginning as she was hugging us czarnecki girls and mentioning how shelby & "what's-her-name" live in the area.  i said, "you mean ME?" and she said, "YES, BRIANA!"   she ended up with 3 different hooter hiders, lots of onesies, a potty plus stool, a bathtub, a crib, a handmade doll, tons of target gift cards, and loved my princesses blanket.  the birthing bead thing was a little weird but kind of interesting to see all the different "bead" shapes and sizes.  surrounded by all of the women in girly dresses and large heels doing girly things made me feel out of place in my very non-girly way, but it was fun nonetheless and erin was such a sweetheart to throw the event for rebekah.

sunday nite was book club where kelly broke the news that she's moving to chicago may 3rd and celez may be moving south of la as well very soon.  so our last hurrah with them will be april 30th, simran hosting.  we all agreed that bel canto was an awful book (lisa & simran were the only two who finished it) and hopefully the movie will be better.  the foods were desserts with simran bringing lemon squares, lisa baking homemade pie, heather fixing powdered sugar brownie cookies, larissa bringing swiss chocolates, celez bringing bakery cupcakes, and kelly bringing this pretty good dessert wine that was called chocolate paradise or something.  it was very sweet and chocolatey and very good with heather's brownies.  i brought the toffee apple dip which most said they would eat with a spoon like nutella, so i told them if they wanted, i could hand over the recipe b/c it was so easy (i added more brown sugar than required to give it a better caramel taste).  simran is giving us a taste of india for this month, so i should probably put in my picks at some point today if there's a free moment.

after the shower, i went back to shelby's and sorted my taxes on the living room floor (now i need to tally!)  i spent earth hour under candles chatting with my brother about the mls season openers that nite.  galaxy looked horrible apparently and lost to colo 4 nil, although goal #3 was a bogus penalty kick.  ruiz was injured but i noticed in my fantasy league they don't have him on the injury list for thurs' game, but i benched him anyway in favor of ivan who i had benched the 1st week and made 12 points on saturday.  suck!  i know i am so gonna fall behind on this thing.

shelby got home from work,  and we walked to hiko's birthday party.  we played a rousing game of shout the movie, and our wine went so fast we had to bail at midnite b/c we were starving and the party was dying down.  was good to see jessica, jenn & allan, rachel, & karim & dustin again.  dustin made plans to call shelby sunday morn to see the avail bdrm.

speaking of, ALEX, COME GET THE REST OF YOUR CRAP!!!  the bike has really scuffed up the wall in the dining area so i'm wondering if we shouldn't go ahead and paint, and the landlady won't be able to fix that bathtub until all of the stuff piled in the bathroom is gone.  plus the clothes in the closet, the entertainment center....DUDE!  it's heartwrenching to watch my beloved boyfriend be constantly reminded of his lost roomie with no hope of reunion.  don't forget all the cherishable little trinkets you have left behind reminding him of his loss.  don't be mean to shelby like that.:P(yes i'm teasing both of you)*

we were going to see sweeney todd on sunday but have now pushed it to the final weekend this coming weekend.  dan b will be in town so it'll be great seeing him, even if for an hour or two.

we watched the hitcher remake and were pleasantly surprised at how not so bad it was - yes, it was still bad and highly predictable, but at least sean bean entertained - he's good at that.
